The Role of the Czech Republic in the European Environmental Policy Making

Following its entry into EU; the Czech Republic was involved in decision - making process at the European level. In order to be integrated effectively, there were adopted institutional changes and established a coordination procedure for the purpose of national position approvals regarding European legislative acts under discussion. With regards to the Czech Republic's involvement into EU environmental policymaking process the main question raises, i.e. the effectiveness of the Czech Republic in the European environmental policy-making process. Respectively how the Czech Republic is effective in the enforcement of national interests at the European level The Czech Republic has developed a coordination procedure specifically targeting its efficiency throughout the whole process of the Council preparation. The main benefit is observed in the preparation of the national positions at different formations of the Council of the European Union, i.e. in the framework from working groups meetings, through Permanent Representatives Committee to the final adoption at the regular Ministers meetings. However this approach is driven mostly by the agenda of the EU and its development within the EU decision-making process.
