Factors affecting stock prices of major US insurance companies

My diploma thesis is generally focused on factors affecting the stock prices of major insurance companies in the US insurance market. This thesis is divided into three parts; the first part gives us a detailed explanation of fundamental analysis, which can be used to observe the relationships between share prices and factors such as macroeconomic, sector or firm factors. Goal of the second part is description of the US insurance market and some trends in the insurance industry. The third part is the core of my thesis - there is an analysis of two major US insurance companies - AIG and Prudential Financial, Inc. and I analyse their stock prices in relation to the mentioned factors. So the aim of this diploma thesis is to analyse and explain the interrelationships between stock prices and these factors and to create the appropriate econometric forecasting models.
Development of building savings product in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis deals with development of a building savings product in the Czech Republic. It introduces basic characteristics of the product, describes current market conditions and prognoses for its future development and mentions a former purpose of its establishment, which was housing issues solution. The theoretical part firstly introduces the Building Savings Act and changes that were implemented on it so far. It also describes a building savings contract, conditions for state financial aid, problems related to purposefulness of the product, defines the terminology used in this thesis and describes individual parts of the product and its advantageous conditions. Later it provides a general description of individual building societies and the building savings products offered by them. In the applicative part of the thesis, a current state of the building savings product is presented and future development prognoses for neighbouring countries are demonstrated.
Payment account with basic features and its importance for consumers

This Bachelor thesis deals with a payment account with basic features in the Czech Republic. It defines a payment account with basic features and describes all the main characteristic features according to the czech legal system. Furthermore, there is a comparison of individual payment accounts with basic features among four financial institutions. The thesis also aims at terms and conditions that are obligatory for each of the financial institution providing payment account with basic features. The final part compares cost of individual payment services associated with the payment accounts with basic features.
The fast Fourier transform and its applications to European spread option pricing

This master thesis should provide reader with an overview of the European spread options evaluation using the fast Fourier transform numerical method. The first and second part of the thesis deal with the theoretical foundations of Fourier analysis and existing approaches of spread option valuation under two and three-factors frameworks (namely GBM - geometric Brown motion and SV - stochastic volatility). The third part describes extention of Hurd-Zhou (2010) valuation method by tool for call and put spread options pricing in case of negative or zero strikes. Extension will be compared with Monte Carlo simulation results from a variety of perspectives, including computing complexity and implementation requirements. Dempster-Hong model, Hurd-Zhou model and Monte Carlo simulation are implemented and tested in R (programming language).
Analysis of business liability insurance on Czech insurance market

This Master's thesis deals with analysis of the Czech business liability insurance market, while using a predefined client for preparation of insurance proposals. It then performs an analysis of fulfilling the requirements through control of insurance terms and conditions. Furthermore, the thesis compares the information required by individual insurance companies for the insurance calculations and examines the factors on which the client decides among the proposed insurances. In the course of the thesis is mapped the work of insurance broker, whose activity corresponds to the individual tasks performed by the thesis.
Investing in technology companies

The diploma thesis is focused on the issue of investing in information technology companies solely on the American capital market. It is divided into two parts. The first part deals with the private market. It compares the situation with the financial bubble in 2000 and with recent developments. It describes the current situation from a legal and financial point of view. It works with the term "Unicorn" for companies with valuations exceeding $ 1 billion. The second part focuses on the stock market and describes the change in the market capitalization of technology companies in relation to fundaments that are created in the private market. The diploma thesis is suitable for investors who want to invest in this type of companies, but they do not have access to the private market and therefore their only investment option is with the entry of the technology company into the stock market. The author's contribution lies in describing the current situation in the technology companies market.
The analysis of Basel III banking regulation in relationship to the banking sectors of EU countries

This bachelor thesis describes the topic of banking regulation with emphasis on the most recent regulatory standard Basel 3. Planned outcome of this thesis is identification and evaluation of impact on European banking sector and also specifically on sectors of Czech Republic and Slovakia. The first thoretical part of this work simply explains basic principles and knowledge of overall regulation, organizational structure of European regulatory framework, shortcomings of Basel 2 and main focus is on Basel 3 and its three pillar structure. Second, more practical, part consists of analysis of impact studies issued by EBA and also national regulators (central banks) of both countries. Finally, according to available data coming from these documents, impact on banks is evaluated. Overall results show that Basel 3 has got positive impact on all analysed sectors. None of observed subjects shows problems with compliance with required criteria.
Gold and its Influence on the Current World

The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of gold. The goal is to understand the function and significance of gold in the modern world and analyse main factors influencing gold prices. The thesis explores gold trading, gold reserves and how central banks deal with these reserves. It also discusses gold standard and the Bretton Woods system. The thesis analyses how demand, supply, currencies, monetary policy and other factors influence the price of gold. Between some factors the correlation analysis is conducted.
Analysis of bank charges

This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of bank charges of current and student accounts in specific banks in the Czech Republic for the year 2017. The first part of my paper deals with the inception and development of bank charges in the Czech Republic. I have also conducted a brief categorization of bank charges into individual segments, linking them either to a particular service or product, specifying their rates, which indicate the market developments. The main objective of my thesis was to find the most suitable bank in terms of bank charges (client expenses associated with account management and other services) and also in terms of the return on current accounts (ie. savings accounts) and student bank accounts to identify the best client account.

Then the thesis is aimed at development of payment instruments during last years and describing currently provided payment instruments. The main object is to create comprehensible and integrated summary of payment instruments. The practical part consists of the analysis of the use of payment instruments from selected banks in the Czech Republic.
