Genre in Dutch Painting of the 16th Century. Picture of Hans Bol "In the Village" in the National Gallery in Prague

The aim of the Bachelor thesis is iconographic analysis of the work "The Village scene" by the Dutch painter Hans Bol (born in 1543 - died in 1593). The thesis deals with genre painting in the Netherlands and trying to link it with contemporary socio- historical and cultural context. The research is about importance of genre in Dutch art. Author is trying to compare the painter Hans Bol with other contemporary painters and he is looking for some possible mutual artistic influences. There is also evaluation of possible models of Hans Bol and his followers. Beside this, the thesis deals with history of the painting - how and when and during which occasion, was the painting bought to the Czech collection.
