Division of Europe with the use of GIS

Division of Europe using GIS Abstract This work focuses on theoretical and practical division of Europe into parts using GIS. The main scope of this work is using the program ArcMap to define the region of Europe and then to divide it into parts. An important sources are background research of literature which found different types of dividing the continent, and the underlying data ESRI. Geographic distribution of map of Europe was made on the basis of identified types of division. The main criterion by which Europe is divided was the total area of the continent and individual countries. Just based on the area the correlation analysis showed the appropriateness or inappropriateness of labeling different parts of the continent, from the geographical point of view. The result of the work are maps outputs that shows the differences and similarities in each division and used terms. The newly created maps are confronted and compared with original maps.
