The literary analysis ofthe novel De gevarendriehoek of Adrianus Franciscus van der Heijden is concentrated on the most significant features ofthis work. This is above all the symbolic sphere that enriches the realistic character of the work. It creates an additional dimension which opens a specific field for interpretation of the philosophical meaning of this work. The analysis is made using the structural method. The language elements are subject to systemizing and classification with the aim to find out their attributes. These semantic attributes determine the function for reader' s apprehension. Following the structural pattem, these attributes are divided into the chapters: time, space, the attitude of the narrator an the motivic analysis. The main vehicle for the symbolic meaning is the motif. The system of motifs consits ofthe story-motifs that are superordinated by abstract-motifs. STAGING OF AN OPERA PRODUCTION IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF A CONDUCTOR FROM THE ONSET TO THE PREMIERE
Bubák, Jan ; SVÁROVSKÝ, Leoš (advisor) ; BABICKÝ, František (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to deal with a complex description of tasks and processes regarding the entire musical preparation period of an opera production by a conductor. All actions are described from a practical point of view giving a clear insight in the ideal and desirable form of rehearsing and time management. At the same time, common shortcomings and difficulties that disrupt the ideal state are introduced. An anaylysis of the choice of the right voice types precedes a linear description of the rehearsal process, checkpoint meetings and finally the stage rehearsal period. A special attetion is devoted to the tasks and functional profile of the conductor's assistant. A detailed description of past theatre practices and current form of the assistant's work is given together with an outline of his contribution to the superior level of the production.
Instrumental retouche in the Czech orchestral practice
Bubák, Jan ; Koutník, Tomáš (advisor) ; Olivieri-Munroe, Charles (referee)
The aim of this thesis is not to give an ultimate judgment about retouches and alterings that conductors can make to a score but to create a clear overview. This means summarizing all means how the original score is manipulated without changing the denotational picture of it. First of all, the processes that can be applied to a score are being categorized. The survey is helping to defina what could be understood under the term "retouch". Any other alterings should be considered not as retouch but as an arrangement. The analyzed score material comprises classical to mid 20th century repertoire. This thesis explores the useof retouches with regard to historical development of orchestral style. Futhermore the scanning field is limited to the Czech orchestral practice. In the mext chapters the most frequent retouches are analyzed. The author ztries to give reasons why these are considered as a part of our´orchestral tradition´or if it is something that belongs to the past and should be revised again. The thesis is also searching for reasons that led the conductors to introduce these retouches.
