Transfer/Expulsion of Sudeten Germans in the Public Press and in the Czech Literature after WWII

The thesis analyzes the reflection of the transfer/expulsion of Germans in post-war Czechoslovak press in the years 1945-1948. It focuses on the first critical reactions that were published in selected journals. Last but not least, it analyzes problems related to transfer (expulsion) of the Germans from Czechoslovakiathe during Second World War. First of all the thesis focuses on weekly Obzory and Vývoj the managing editor Pavel Tigrid under the auspices of the Czechoslovak People's Party. It also analyses text in independent weekly Dnešek, that is connected with Ferdinand Peroutka, and critical comments of Přemysl Pitter and Michal Mareš, that were influential in the post-war period. Overall, the thesis analyses the reflection of the transfer through these personalities and their articles in selected Third Republic's journals. Pavel Tigrid in Context of Postwar Exile Culture

The diploma thesis analyzes the activities of the Czechoslovak journalist Pavel Tigrid, as one of the leading representatives of the first post-war exile. This thesis analysis his impact in the context of the cultural, social and political development of Czechoslovak emigration in the years 1948-1953. It focuses mainly on the Tigrid's texts published in Czech and Slovak language exile periodicals. During the time, which were magazines Doba, Svoboda, Svobodný zítřek and the monthly Skutečnost. The thesis is based on resources available in the Prague Libri Prohibiti library, on memorial books and basic secondary literature. It has also devoted a substantial part of his radio speeches from Radio Free Europe between 1951 and 1952, when he was program director of the Munich section.
