Energy demand of exercise on stable and unstable surfaces
Muniová, Zuzana ; Jebavý, Radim (advisor) ; Blažek, Dušan (referee)
Title: Energy expenditure of exercise on stable and unstable surfaces Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the difference between energy expenditure of exercise on stable and unstable surfaces. Methods: Ten athletes (aged 27.4 ± 2.67), current students or graduates from Faculty of physical education and sport at Charles University, took part in this study. The study was an intragroup randomized experiment. Energy expenditure was determined by spiroergometry based on inhaled O2 and exhaled CO2. The metabolic analyzer MetaMax 3B was used to determine respiratory parameters. The measured data were analyzed through basic statistical operations. Results: The highest average energy expenditure of 252,6 kJ was measured for dynamic exercises on unstable surfaces. The value for the average energy expenditure on stable surfaces was 225,7 kJ. This was followed by energy expenditure of static exercise on unstable surfaces, where the average value was 205,4 kJ. Probands showed the lowest energy expenditure during static exercise on stable surfaces, where the average value was 177,5 kJ. The average difference between static exercise on unstable surfaces and static exercise on stable surfaces was 15,9 %. The difference between dynamic exercise on unstable surfaces and dynamic exercise on stable...
Impact of stress situations on heart rate and air consumption under water
Blažek, Dušan ; Fiala, Miloš (advisor) ; Bažant, Filip (referee)
Title: Impact of stress situations on heart rate and air consumption under water Objectives: The aim of this labour is to determine relation between air consumption in our selected stress situation. Determinte strongest stress situation from our selection on the base of increase of stress indicators (hpb, minute air consumption). Next aim is to determine context between stress situation at beginning diver, their heart rate and air consumption. Last but not least aim of this labour is to conduce to optimal method and reccomendation related to safety and psychological resistance of the diver. Methods: In our thesis we used a method of analysis and a method of comparison. We apllied the method of analysis in each individual measurement and the method of comparison in part comparing each measurement together. Results: By measurements was found out, that air consumption is at different stress situations under watter dissimilar. There is also very wild diference between air consumption and heart rate at each specimen.. Like optimal method of psychological resistance of the diver was selected method of combination. Significant stress, was dive itself. The combination consists of training concrete situation and method of general stress handling. Keywords: scuba diving, heart rate, air consumption, stress

Title: Impact of stress situations on heart rate and air consumption under water Objectives: The aim of this work is to determine context between stress situation at beggining divers, their heart rate and air consumption. Next aim is to evaluate whole measurement and determine the most risky, by us measured factor, according to air consumption . Next important aim is to finde out, how similar are measurmnets of single targets and according to it eventuely determine optimal reccomendation leading to increasing safety of most parcipitators, and invividuals as well. Hyperventilation in scuba diving
Blažek, Dušan ; Fiala, Miloš (advisor) ; Bažant, Filip (referee)
Title: Hyperventilation in diving Objectives: The main goal of this labour is to finde out, if hyperventilation and inhalation of high-percent oxygen has influence on sport effort in diving. Also outline possible danger and hazards in diving. Very important goal of this labour is to inform reader about diseases and shocks connected with diving, and first aid when they come actual. Methods: In this labour, I used analysis method of documents. It was mainly used literature sources related to human physiology and scuba diving. Results: From this labour results, that hyperventilation and inhalation of high procent oxygen rises achievment at free diving and may have positive influence in short route swimming. The rest of this labour has mainly informative character about physiology and dangers connected to diving. Labour can serve as informative material for beggining divers. Keywords: hypoxya, ventilating, oxygen, acidosis, tetany
The effect of various breathing variations on intra-thoracic pressure, bar kinematics and muscle activity in bench press exercise.
Blažek, Dušan ; Šťastný, Petr (advisor) ; Vágner, Michal (referee)
Title: The effect of breathing technique on intra-thoracic pressure, kinematics of barbell, and muscle activity during bench press exercise. Objectives: The main aim of this study is to determine relationship between breathing technique and bench press exercise. Furthermore, determine which breathing modification leads to overcoming highest resistance and how each individual breathing techniques (Valsalva maneuver (VM), Hold breath (HB), Lung packing (PAC), "reversed breathing" (REVB)) affects kinematics of barbell, and muscle activity, during different intensity (1 RM, 4RM, 8RM, 12RM). Methods: Experiment of cross-sectional character, with usage of our-calibrated sensor, for intrathoracic pressure measurements, 3D kinematics with passive markers and surface electromyography. For measuring anthropometric measurements was further used goniometer, digital scale, and measuring tape. Comparisons of the breathing techniques was done by analysis of covariance ANOVA, while particular parameters were compared by Pearson correlation. Results: Except of REVB technique, which indicated significantly lower load, there was no significant difference between techniques in lifted resistance. Similar effect was observed at results of intrathoracic pressure, where REVB technique showed significantly lower pressure,...
