The tempo of speech in theatrical Czech during two periods separated by several decades
Bartošová, Petra ; Palková, Zdenka (advisor) ; Skarnitzl, Radek (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the issue of speech rate. The theoretical part briefly describes the investigation of speech tempo. It defines the types of tempo examined in this study (articulation rate and modified speaking rate) and factors that influence the tempo of speech. The practical part of the thesis aims to ascertain whether speech rate on the stage has increased and whether it is influenced by the type of text (monologue, dialogue, monological dialogue). The material consists of four theatre productions (Lakomec from 1972 and 2004 and Naši furianti from 1979 and 2006). Therefore we do not investigate gradual changes within the given periods, but instead compare two pairs of productions of the same dramatic text, realized with a time interval of approximately 30 years. A linear mixed-effects model was used as the main method for statistical evaluation of results gathered by measuring the speech rate. The results show that neither articulation rate nor modified speaking rate changed significantly in the observed productions. Differences with some statistical significance were obtained for comparison of tempo in texts of differing type, specifically in texts of different line lengths. The results relate especially to articulation rate, lesser to modified speaking rate.
Vliv optimalizace ustájení na vybrané aspekty chovu skotu
Bartošová, Petra
The aim of the diploma thesis The influence of housing optimization on selected aspects of cattle breeding was to evaluate the life of dairy cows in relation to housing before reconstruction and after optimization of the housing in the particular breed, and also to observe the occurrence of abnormal behaviour and to evaluate, whether it was eliminated after the reconstruction. An ethological study was conducted on a farm in the Olomouc Region which was involved in dairy cattle breeding. Observation was perfor-med at ten minute intervals, with daily observations taking place on 9 August, 16 August. and 7.9., from 9:00 to 16:50, and night observation taking place on 18 August, 20 August and 22 August, from 21:00 to 05:00. Daily activities of dairy cows, food intake, drinking, lying down, standing, movement, comfortable behaviour, social behaviour, urination, stinging, and abnormal behaviour were observed. The positive effect of stables reconstruction was demonstrated in the case of food intake (7% increase by day, 9% at night), resting (11% increase) and elimination of ab-normal behaviour (at day 1% % of animals). The manifestations of comfort and social behaviour were not significantly affected by the rebuilding of the stables.
Vliv technologie chovu na životní projevy skotu
Bartošová, Petra
This Bachelor's thesis is named "The Impact of Rearing Technology on the Cattle Behaviour" and it aims to compare occurrence and frequency of basic daily activities of dairy cows in family farms and factory farms. Ethological observations of behaviour in factory farms was carried out in the Agricultural Society TERRIS Ltd. located in the village of Budětsko. There are Holstein breed dairy cows treated in open stabling with deep litter beds and elevated cattle feeders. The family farm Amalthea Ltd. is the second object of this thesis, this farm is located in the village of Hvozd. In this farm, Jersey breed dairy cows are reared, kept on pasturage all year long. Daily activities such as standing, lying on the right side, lying on the left side, walking, drinking, feeding, urinating, defecation, social behavior and comforting behavior were moni-tored. The observations were done every five minutes on 26th and 27th of August in the factory farm and on 16th and 17th of September in the family farm. According to the observations, the cows reared in the family farm spent 46.14 % of a day eating, that means 15.19% more time than those reared in the factory farm, and they spent 11.73% of the time walking, e.g. 6.73% more than factory reared ones. The diary cows in the factory farms had social interactions during the observations while those in the pasture did not. The stabled cows spent lying 25.96% of the time, 4.56% more than pastured ones. Family farm cows preferred lying on their right side while factory farm cows enjoyed both lying on the right and on the left sides.

Linguopalatal contact in Czech palatal stops
Bartošová, Petra ; Skarnitzl, Radek (advisor) ; Machač, Pavel (referee)
The topic of this bachelor thesis is an articulation analysis of Czech palatal stops [ť] and [ď] using electropalatography. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the average and maximum rate of linguopalatal contact in the palatal area as well as to examine the dynamic process of this contact. It also features a short analysis of occlusion duration of Czech palatal stops. The theoretical part of the thesis contains a description of stop consonants, palatals, and the research method - electropalatography. Since thorough analysis of such speech sounds in Czech has not been extensive, the thesis should contribute to a more detailed look on articulation effects during the production of Czech palatal stops. It should also explore the impact of several factors on the production of those speech sounds - in particular voicing, differences between speakers, vocalic environment and nature of the material. In addition, it might be valuable among EPG studies as a considerable number of different speakers (6) is analysed.
