Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson - An Interpretation of the Letter on John Brown's Execution with Regard to the Concept of Christian Fundamentalism

Utopia vs. anti-utopia
BÖHMOVÁ, Ivana
The Bachelor?s work deals with the delimitation of literary genre of anti-utopia and its setting within the period context. The work also covers the relation of anti-utopia to the utopia genre, on which it was primarily based. Therefore, it does not omit the characteristics of the utopia term in the wider sense with reference to the major utopian work from the area of philosophy, such as Plato?s Constitution, More´s Utopia, Campanella´s Sunny State and political ideologies tending towards totalitarian regimes. The section on utopias also includes the critics of utopias represented by the Austrian philosopher K. R. Popper and by the representatives of liberalism. The content of the Bachelor?s work is an attempt to make a comparison and analysis of the major anti-utopian works. Emphasis is put on mutual comparison of the anti-utopias themselves and also on finding both the common and distinguishing elements and characteristic signs of both utopian and anti-utopian texts. The objective of the work is to set anti-utopia into the context of historical practice of totalitarian regimes and point out the influence, which the historical and personal experience of the authors with the totalitarian regimes had on origination of anti-utopian works.
