Johann Nepomuk von Harrach (1828-1909) was a Czech aristocrat remarkable for his involvement in culture, industry and politics. The aim of this thesis is to clearly describe Johann Nepomuk von Harrach and his relationship with the Czech artist. The thesis mainly analyses the correspondence between Johann Nepomuk von Harrach and Czech architect and patron Josef Hlávka and correspondence with the poet, and tutor of Nepomuk's son, Julius Zeyer. To illustrate the relationship and styles of communication of von Harrach more clearly, the thesis analyses the correspondence between Otto von Harrach, the son of Johann Nepomuk, and Julius Zeyer. The basis of the thesis is correspondence stored in the Literární archiv Památníku národního písemnictví. The subject of research is also count Harrach's communication strategy, which shows the difference between communication with a patron and with a poet.
