The Application of the Elimination voltammetry in the Study of Phytochelatine Complexes with Zinc

For two synthetically prepared phytochelatins – PC2 and PC3 - the formation of complexes with zinc ions was studied in borate buffer pH 8.5, using DC and DP voltammetry on HMDE. In both cases, in addition to complexation, oxidation of peptide takes place. Elimination voltammetry with linear scan could distinguish particular Zn-complexes and showed their reduction at adsorbed state and the influence of kinetics -slow formation or labile behaviour of complexes.
The application of Brdička reaction for determination of phytochelatins in real samples of barley and thermophilic cyanobacterium grown in the presence of cadmium ions

Heavy metals represent important group of environmental contaminants. Ions of heavy metals (Cd, Pd, Cu, Hg, Zn and Ni) are released into soil solutions as a consequence of soils acidification, among others. Their presence has imminent influence on physiological procedures in plants, which have developed different mechanisms of adaptation on such conditions. One of mechanisms for plants tolerance towards heavy metal ions is their inactivation by binding on polypeptides or small proteins with high cysteine content, named phytochelatins (PC) or metallothioneins. Their function has been studied in particular at man and animals.
The Application of Silver Amalgam Electrode in Voltammetric Determination of Cd, Pb and Cu in Reference Materials of Plant Origin

Silver solid amalgam electrode, combined with PC-controlled regeneration of its surface, was successful in voltammetric analysis of Cd, Pb and Cu in certified reference materials BCR (Rye Gras) , 679 White Cabbage and other two candidate materials. Results were compared and statistically evaluated with those obtained by voltammetry on HMDE and ETA-AAS determination. The Use of Solid Silver Amalgam Electrode in the Voltammetric Determination of Cd, Cu and Pb in Biological Materials

Mercury meniscus-modified solid silver amalgam electrode was applied in measurement of Cd, Pb and Cu in digests of plant materials, two of them certified reference materials BCR 281(Rye Grass) and BCR 679 (White Cabbage). Results were statistically evaluated, together with results obtained by ETA-AAS and voltammetry on HMDE.
Phytochelatins as Cadmium and Zinc Ligands in Study Using Voltammetric Methods

Complexation of synthetically prepared phytochelatin PC3 was studied using differential pulse voltammetry on HMDE. This method allows to measure reduction peak of mercury compound of original peptide simultaneously with the reduction peaks of formed cadmium or zinc complexes. Elimination voltammetry with linear scan was used at selected stoichiometric ratio to characterise diffusion current of complexes formed. Substantial differences were found between Cd and Zn complexes, both in formation and behaviour.
