Historical atlas of the battle of Austerlitz
Obrazová, Kateřina ; Čábelka, Miroslav (advisor) ; Šára, Pavel (referee)
This bachelor's thesis takes place at the Battle of Austerlitz on December 6, 1805, also known as the Battle of the Three Emperors or Austerlitz, which occurred in our territory. Moreover, this battle was one of Napoleon's most important victories that resulted in the Holy Roman Empire falling apart. This paper aims to design and create a historical atlas of this battle. Theoretically, the writer will provide the evidence with available analysis of cartographic products connected to the battle. Additionally, this paper focuses on introducing the Napoleonic Wars and their participants, and the course of the Battle of Austerlitz. Based on the analysis, a custom design of a thematic historical atlas, including a character key, is will be created. The practical output will be the thematic historical atlas of the Battle of Austerlitz, including both topographic maps and accompanying texts, pictures, or tables. Overall, critically evaluate the paper with a discussion. Key words: historical atlas, battle of Austerlitz, digital map collection, battle map, old map, ArcGIS
Analysis of the celestial maps
Považan, Juraj ; Bayer, Tomáš (advisor) ; Čábelka, Miroslav (referee)
Analysis of the spheric map Abstract The master thesis deals with cartometric analysis of maps of the celestial sphere using image correlation. The main goal of this work was to design an algorithm for the identification of stars on old maps of the starry sky using a normalized cross-correlation and the application of a median and Gaussian filter. The analysis itself takes place on small scale maps or. the whole visible sky divided into two hemispheres, shown in a stereographic projection and also takes into account the influence of the cartographic map display on the position of objects, which it tries to eliminate by Helmert transformation, and also the influence of precession, which affects the position of astronomical objects over time. The accuracy of the drawing of the positions of the objects is evaluated by means of isolines drawn on the basis of positional coordinates. The algorithm was implemented in the Matlab programming environment and old maps from the Mapová sbírka PřF and the 5th edition of Bright Star Cataloque were used as test data, which contains the positions of stars with precisely determined coordinates. The achieved results are presented in the form of images of captured objects and created isolines over old maps as well as tables of the three nearest neighbors of the most important...
Tourist map of the Pravčická brána Rock Arch and its surroundings with focus on large-scale sandstone relief mapping
Žuravská, Markéta ; Lysák, Jakub (advisor) ; Čábelka, Miroslav (referee)
The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to create a detailed large-scale tourist map that shows the location of the Pravčická brána Rock Arch and its surroundings in the Bohemian Switzerland National Park with a focus on depicting the sandstone relief. Emphasis is placed on the use of information about rock structures from detailed aerial laser scanning data, which allows the representation of rock formations using the shading method. The other data for the creation of a detailed map are obtained by evaluating the available old maps of Bohemian Switzerland, Pravčická brána Rock Arch and its surroundings respectively, and contemporary spatial data of the location. As part of the bachelor's thesis, they were refined and supplemented by field research using GNSS. The field survey is conducted mainly using a mobile application Collector for ArcGIS on the basis of a digital relief model created from aerial laser scanning data. The resulting map is processed in the ArcGIS Pro software. The created large-scale map of this location is in the form of a board map or a folded map and is probably the first such detailed tourist map of the nearby Pravčická brána Rock Arch which uses detailed aerial laser scanning data to show rocks and to reveal both contemporary and historical objects and their Czech and German...

Rusá, Veronika ; Štefanová, Eva (advisor) ; Čábelka, Miroslav (referee)
This thesis deals with 3D reconstruction, visualization and subsequent presentation of object using geoinformation methods. The aim was to create a 3D model of the Králův Dvůr castle in three time periods based on data found. Historical photographs, construction documentation and other data were used for the reconstruction. When creating the 3D model, an effort was made to capture the appearance of the castle and its immediate surroundings as faithfully as possible. Other goals were the visualization of models and their presentation on a website. The secondary objectives were two studies of literature dealing with the issue of 3D modeling. The theoretical part describes the methods of 3D modeling, types of 3D models and their use, the theory of 3D and digital terrain models and interpolation methods. In practice, 3 models were created capturing the castle before 1253, 1970 and in 2020 in SketchUp, the visualization took place in Lumion software. The results are fly-through animations, and models presented on the Theasys website. The image outputs are further compared with historical photographs.
