Russia in the context of energy security

This bachelor thesis refers to Russian energy sector in the context of energy security. The main goal of this thesis is to compare importance of European and Asian markets for export of Russian energy. After a theoretical introduction in first chapter two main markets for export of crude oil and gas are described. Second chapter relates to European Union as a consumer of Russian energy, dependence of some states is measured, and main pipelines are mentioned. Third chapter analyzes China as the most important region outside EU and other partners -- Japan and South Korea. In Eastern Russia, new energy projects are built, which will increase the capacity for export to Eastern Asia. Last chapter points out problems of Russian energy sector -- low level of efficiency, depletion of production and investment. Economic and political importance is introduced.
