Motion in Faulkner: An Analysis of Movement in The Sound and the Fury
Hesová, Petra ; Ulmanová, Hana (advisor) ; Matthews, John Thomas (referee)
The Gothic is an extremely viable mode in the history of American literature. As a genre concerned principally with distortions and aberrations, it provides a platform for writers to voice their concerns about periods of transformation and destabilized boundaries. William Faulkner, one of the leading authors of the American South, frequently employs the Gothic mode in his portrayals of the South as a traumatized region trying to cope with the echoes of the Civil War and with the disintegration of old aristocratic values, which manifests itself in the decay of institutions (such as the family) as well as a collapse of individual minds. This emphasis on the human psyche is evident especially in the novel The Sound and the Fury, whose main characters and narrators are representatives of the various extremities of the human psyche (severe mental retardation, suicidal tendencies, schizophrenia and paranoia). Faulkner's use of the Gothic mode is rather unorthodox and innovative, employing inversions and parody which can be appropriately demonstrated by the category of motion and his use of the traditional Gothic devices and character types. The traditional motion patterns - flight and pursuit, quest and purposeless wandering - that are originally connected predominantly with only one Gothic type (the...

Autonomous control of group of robots and their reaction to unexpected stimuli
VENCÁLEK, Lukáš
The bachelor thesis deals with creating of mobile robotics group, with an abilities of autonomous movement to reach a target of a route or movement in defined direction. Group must be able to react to unexpected obstacle in the route to not disrupt its integrity and avoid robots to restrict each other. The group must be able to find the original trajectory of the route and continue movement.

Střihové napětí na stěně pod velkou bublinou stoupající v nakloněném plochém kanále
Tihon, Jaroslav ; Pěnkavová, Věra ; Vejražka, Jiří
The motion of single air bubbles in an inclined flat water channel is investigated experimentally. The electrodiffusion technique of near-wall flow diagnostics is applied to measure the wall shear stress distribution under large bubbles rising along the upper channel wall. The electrodiffusion measurements are synchronized with the visual observation of bubble movement done by a high-speed camera. The analysis of video records provides information on the bubble shape and terminal velocity. The experiments are carried out for three different channel heights and cover a wide range of channel inclination angles (from horizontal to vertical position). The experimental results on bubble motion characteristics obtained in stagnant and upward-flowing liquid arrangements are confronted with the recent predictions and scaling provided by theoretical models.

Dance and movement in psychotherapy
Bürgerová, Dominika ; NĚMEČKOVÁ, Elvíra (advisor) ; FRIČOVÁ, Marie (referee)
The Bachelor thesis discusses the dance movement therapy, its development and provision as a psychotherapeutic approach. The aim is to call attention to the extensive use when working with clients and to present it as a method that has its foundation, principles, structure, form, goals and ethical aspects. Then highlight the inconsistencies in terminology and confusing dance movement therapy with therapeutic dance. The work is enriched with practical knowledge and contains case study, which has not been published.

Diagnostics of failures of the state castle of Veltrusy
Drdácký, Miloš ; Cikrle, P. ; Wendrich, A.
The report presents results of diagnostics of two objects of the Veltrusy Castle which was damaged during the 2002 year flood - Laudon pavilion and the main outdoor staircase. The following NDT methods were utilized: long term monitoring of movement in cracks, thermography and radar measurements.
