Problems of nursing care for a child with spinal muscular atrophy
BUBALOVÁ, Petra
Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a hereditary disease characterized by progressive loss of -motoneurons of the spinal front corners, the consequence of which atrofizaci of muscles occurs. As a result, children become disabled and infirm dependent on the help and care of others at an early age. This is a relatively rare disease, the prevalence is about 1: 6,000 children. Spinal muscular atrophy is divided into 4 types according to its severity and time of onset of symptoms. Despite significant longtime research, it has failed to find a drug that could cure this disease so far. To the present date, there are only methods that slow the progression. The survey also contained 4 research questions, namely: What are the principles of treating a child with spinal muscular atrophy ? What are the most common problems in the care of a child with spinal muscular atrophy ? Are parents adequately educated on the issue of child with spinal muscular atrophy ? What impact has the presence of a child with spinal muscular atrophy in his family? Qualitative research was used in the implementation of the empirical part . Two qualitative methods were used to collect the data, a semi-structured interview and a hidden observation of the participant . Interviews were conducted with 3 research files, with 11 general nurses from the České Budejovice Hospital and University Hospital Motol, 7 mothers of children with I and II. type SMA of a summer camp for children with SMA and with 5 personal assistants. This thesis should help nurses and the public to gain awareness of the disease of Spinal Muscular Atrophy. It refers to all aspects of care of such a sick child, with which their parents daily struggle. Caring for a child with SMA is very difficult for their caregivers and requires considerable restrictions for the whole family. Information observed during the research were presented at a seminar for nurses in the České Budejovice Hospital in January 2015.

View of sexually transmitted diseases in case of assisting professions
STŘÍTESKÁ, Lucie
Name of the dissertation is:``View of sexually transmitted diseases in case of assisting professions``. I decided to deal with sexually transmitted diseases because the number of these diseases is relatively high and numbers of newly ill people keep increasing. This opinion is confirmed by the fact that, for example, number of HIV positive individuals in the Czech Republic slightly exceeded 100 in the year 1990 whereas the number HIV positive individuals was 1,344 in the year 2009, i.e. 19 years later. Considering also the fact that this disease is an incurable one and treatment of this disease is demanding on the ill people from thein mental as well as physical aspekt and considering also the total effect for society, it is very important indeed to pay attention on this issue. Theoretical part divides sexually transmitted diseases according the often used division in classic generál diseases. They include inguinal granuloma, gonorrhoea, soft chancre, syphilis and venereal lymphogranuloma. Another diseases which include HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, genital herpes, infections caused by the virus Human papillom, scabies or pubic louses were dealt with only marginally. The last chapter is focused on assisting professions. The goal of the work was to look at the issue from the point of view of assisting professions staff. To find out whether they are interested in the issue, what is their awareness, etc. This goal has been met. Conversations, for example, revealed that employees who are in everyday contact with people who live risky way of living (drug addicts, homeless people, etc.) are better aware of issue concering sexually transmitted diseases than respondents who work with children or seniors. None of the respondents underwent any additional training in this issue. The selected methodology was represented by quality research and the selected method was represented by partially controlled interview with six selected representatives from assisting professions. The overall knowledge will be used not only to find out but also the to complete or correct information on the issue for employees in assisting professions. Information on the issue can be further disseminated among clients via these professionals within primary prevention.

Sudden Cardiac Death - Social Impact on Family
JIROUŠKOVÁ, Alžběta
Abstract The Bachelor´s thesis "A Sudden cardiac death - and its social impact on the family" deals with a sudden cardiac death and its influence on functionality of a basic element of the state ? the family. The main task of this thesis is to determine a total psychosocial impact of a sudden cardiac death on the relationships in the family and verify which psychosocial rehabilitation options are offered to the bereaved persons. The expected application of this thesis in practice should improve living conditions for the bereaved persons and to provide them with more information about this diagnosis. In the theoretical part the diagnosis of a sudden cardiac death was described in detail. The death that occurs within one hour after the first signs is a frequently discussed topic in professional medical circles. The heart disease is considered as the main risk factor. Therefore, doctors primarily concentrate on this area in the treatment and prevention. Nevertheless 25 percent of patients who died of sudden cardiac disease had no signs of heart disease. So it´s important to think about familial syndrome. The major role in therapeutic activities is played by antiarhytmic therapy, kardiovertru-defibrillator implantation or catheter ablation. The main objective of the research was to determine how the current society is informed about the risk of NSS, its causes and possible prevention. The possibilities of psychosocial rehabilitation for families with psychosocial impact from diagnosed sudden cardiac death of a family member were analyzed here as well. The first set of questions was focused on lifestyle diseases that are closely connected with NSS and significantly increase the risk. The answers revealed the current society is quite well informed about lifestyle diseases, mainly cardiovascular diseases. Despite this knowledge the Czech population health situation has not changed significantly and civilization diseases are growing instantly. Another set of questions focused on the NSS and its causes. A lot of survey respondents put emphasis on SAC prevention in contradistinction to experts who already work with endangered patients and focus on managing and control of life threatening arrhythmias. Approximately half of the respondents identified themselves as endangered because of their health problems (cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, etc.) More than 95 percent of the respondents expected impacts on the family and its relationships caused by the sudden cardiac death of a family member. Only 8 percent of the respondents put emphasis on potential social-economic changes. The research dealt with a problem whether the public is well-informed about possibilities of psychosocial rehabilitation. And the findings indicate it is not. More than 58 percent of the respondents try to solve problems themselves or with help of their family or friends. The responses to the survey confirmed the assumption that majority of the respondents (80 percent) know only about financial support from the state to the bereaved persons. And they would use only this state support if their family member died. Common people consider the using of psychosocial rehabilitation unavailable or they believe it is intended for the target group of psychologically ill people, mentally handicapped, alcoholics and drug addicts. A most of them don´t know that it could be used by the bereaved persons (91.16 percent). Due to the activity developed by the MMR as counseling for bereaved persons, it seems that it could get better in the near future. The offered service called ?consultancy for the bereaved persons? could get widely into the public knowledge.

The Problematic of Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) Occuring in Office-Buildings in České Budějovice - Health Consequences and Possible Prevention.
ŠVADLENKOVÁ, Radka
A modern person spends most time closed inside houses, offices, schools and other institutions, and if he feels unwell or experiences accute health and comfort effects, his every day life can be highly influenced both mentally and physically. Most symptoms of illnesses or indispositions appear in people living or working inside buildings for no apparent reason. Having left the building, health problems often diminish or even disappear. The complaints mostly include irritation of eye mucous membranes, upper and lower airways and skin, hypersensitiveness, mental and physical fatique, stomach upset and diziness. It is known as a ``sick building syndrome``. ``Sick building syndrome`` (SBS) results into significant decrease of human performance and frequent absences. However, it can lead to worse interpersonal relations, often connected with lower productivity of labour. ``Sick building syndrome`` has been known for many years. Its occurence is numerous but the cause for it have not yet been revealed. More negative factors seem to coincide. The positive moment is that many people are aware of the problem so many new SBS studies and publications have appeared recently. This diploma thesis consists of two parts. The first one, theoretical, and the other is practical. The practical part is focused on research work. The goal of my thesis was to compare a modern air-conditioned building with an older one, without air-conditioning while observing the SBS symptoms which appeared in office occupants in České Budějovice. I also investigated public awareness of this problem together with other issues related. I consider the findings very contributive to professionals in this field, the National Institute of Public Health and common population interested in the problem.

Viral hepatitis B at i.v. drug users {--} health and social issues
SOUČKOVÁ, Iveta
The bachelor thesis has been focused on monitoring the prevalence of viral hepatitis B in the South Bohemian Region in the period from 2005 to 2009 years. Intravenous drug users are the target group since they belong to the risk group jeopardized by this infection. The thesis has got two basic parts {--} a theoretical part and a research one. The theoretical part describes not only a history of this dangerous disease and its prevalence in the world, but it also concentrates on the basic epidemiological characteristics, treatment, health as well as social and economic impacts on the whole society. In the theoretical part I drew from the available literature and from the existing legislation. An aim of the research part of the bachelor thesis was to map an incidence of viral hepatitis B in the South Bohemian Region in the period from 2005 to 2009 years at intravenous drug users. Three hypotheses were established in order to identify the objectives; it was chosen a quantitative research with a technique of a secondary data analysis from Epidat system for their confirmation or refutation. Altogether 199 electronic screening sheets of intravenous drug users reported by the Regional Public Health Watch in České Budějovice were analyzed. The research established the first hypothesis, which assumed that the overall incidence of viral hepatitis B at the intravenous users in the South Bohemian Region in the period from 2005 to 2009 years is the same, as it is in the Czech Republic. This hypothesis was confirmed. Likewise, the second hypothesis was verified; it assumed a higher prevalence rate of acute viral hepatitis B at the intravenous drug users in the South Bohemian Region in the monitored period from 2005 to 2009 years than it was the prevalence in the Czech Republic. The anticipated third hypothesis regarding an educational attainment of the intravenous drug users in the South Bohemian Region in the period from 2005 to 2009 years was, compared with the results observed in the same period in the Czech Republic, verified as well. The results can be used for a need of any further research, for professional publications and for teaching purposes.
