New city block on Rybářská Street
Lichý, Erik ; Kaftan, Martin (referee) ; Františák, Luboš (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to create an urban ensemble on site surrounded by Rybářská and Poříčí street and on a nearby brownfield that is in place of a former factory “Kras”. A part of the thesis is also a design of two chosen buildings in the designed development. As a part of the solution of one of the designed residential blocks, attention is paid to one of the corner houses, which is supported to bring a student dormitory with a place for coworking to the area. The second element making up the given block is terraced development of smaller apartment buildings, the so-called townhouse. One of the main ideas was the effort to naturally connect the new development to the existing development and at the same time to adapt to the newly emerging embank of the river Svratka.
Effect of conservation grazing on dry grasslands of the Czech Republic
Marek, Matouš ; Münzbergová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Karlík, Petr (referee)
This diploma thesis is focused on grazing management in the Czech Republic, namely in Prague, České středohoří and Český kras. More specifically, on dry semi natural grasslands (Festucion valesiacae, Bromion erecti and Cirsio-Brachypodion pinnati). The main aim of this thesis was to identify the total effect of grazing in all its forms on the species composition and the diversity of vegetation. Data were collected in 2022 on 54 pastures subjected to conservation grazing, where the management has been going on for 1 - 24 years. Data have been collected on individual localities using phytocenological relevés. Data on the management have been obtained through talks with locality administrators and through questionnaires. Used covariates were associated with the micro-site of the phytocenological relevé, climatic data, types of surrounding vegetation, place of the relevé, soil chemical analyses and the management. The results of this thesis show that grazing predictors often influence broad-leaf grasses, especially Bromus erectus and Brachypodium pinnatum, which negatively affect endangered species. Species composition is mainly affected by the time since start of the management, and the season of grazing. Spring and autumn grazing were identified as positive tools of management (increasing numbers of...
Effect of effluent from wastewater treatment plants on karst rivers
Schrimpelová, Kateřina ; Gruberová, Eva (referee) ; Malá, Jitka (advisor)
Karst rivers are special type of rivers because of their hydrography conditions. They usually flow from non-karst area and as soon as they reach in to the karst area they disappear underground. There, they flow through cavities until they reach the surface again. The aim of this thesis is to assess the impact of water outflow from wastewater treatment plant on karst rivers. The study was done in the central area of CHKO Moravský kras where the impact of two WWTP on a cave system Rudické propadání – Býčí skála is evaluated. As a part of this study a half-year monitoring was carried out, which consisted of water sampling once every two weeks. In total, 13 water samples were taken from 8 sampling points. Also 4 additional one-time samples were taken from the cave system. Moreover, flow rate, temperature, conductivity, oxygen concentration and pH were measured at the sampling point. Afterwards, the content of undissolved solids, CODCr, BOD, N-NH4+, N-NO2-, N-NO3-, P-PO43- and total phosphorus were determined in the samples. The change of parameters in time and during the flow in the river was observed from the measured values. The balance of pollutants in particular parts of the river was calculated. The outflow values from waste water treatment plants were compared to the emission limits for surface waters and the parameters of rivers were compared to the environmental quality standards. According to the results, it can be observed that the water quality improves after passing through the cavities. It was proven that the outflows from the observed waste water treatment plants are negatively influencing the water streams. The most serious problem is the wash up of sludge from WWTP Rudice and its consequent sedimentation in the river and/or outflow to the Rudické propadání.

Completion of the city block - Křížová street
Wintner, Roman ; Kaštánková, Jana (referee) ; Františák, Luboš (advisor)
As part of my bachelor thesis, I deal with design of an urban and conceptual solution for part of city quarter Staré Brno, specifically with the gap between Křížová Street and the newly designed complex Kras. In the design, I take into account the modification of the traffic situation, which was influenced by the second awarded proposal in the idea competition Mendlovo náměstí (2018). An equal part of the project is creation of an architectural study for two student houses and adjacent related institutions within the solved area. I decided for the design of student space because of current insufficient capacities, equipments of university dormitories and trend in rising rental prices of flats in Brno. In my work I come up with a closer analysis of the area, proposing a conceptual solution, where I also pay attention to the existing historical listed house. I deal with its future within the complex on idealogical level. The concept of the complex is partly based on the historical appearance of Křížová Street. I deal in detail with the concept of two student objects, which have their own character, but at the same time they try to come together and form one functional unit. It is important to fit into the character of the street and the overall atmosphere of the Staré Brno quarter (in the case of the building on Křížová Street) but in the current design without losing own identity. Equally important is the playful design of student accommodation, where I take into account the benefits of collective accommodation and the life at student’s dormitories. I try to make a contemporary, creative, non-limiting object, providing space for the individualities, which students definitely are.
Monitoring shifts of the rock block "Hřebenáč" in the Moravian Karst
Lukesová, Dominika ; Kašpar, Karel (referee) ; Šváb, Tomáš (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is the observation of the shift of the rock formation Hřebenáč in the Moravian Karst. The monitored rock formation is located in front of the Sloup-Sosuvka Caves, in Sloup village. The measurement is done because of the climbers’ and visitors’ security reasons. Firstly, a network of surveying was built and the points on the first rock were placed. The zero phase was measured in August, the first phase in December 2014. The measurements have been done by trigonometric method and levelling method. As a result, the calculation of the levelling method has been done, equalization in VMK program and subsequent transformation in Groma. The evaluation of the shifts has been done on the basis of the comparison of phases.
Design of WWTP at locality with extreme demands on quality of treated wastewater
Krupica, Radek ; Vachovec, Roman (referee) ; Hlavínek, Petr (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the wastewater treatment technologies by means of which high quality of the treated wastewater is attained, especially with regard to removing nutrients. The introduction of the thesis contains, among others, descriptions of the reserves in the Czech Republic where it is extremely important to insist on the highest quality of the discharged wastewaters. Then follows a summary of the quality requirements on the discharged wastewaters as stipulated in the legislation. Furthermore, I analyse the impact of the nutrients – nitrogen and phosphorus – on the environment and the principles of their removal from the wastewaters. In the next section I concentrate on the technological processes by means of which the required quality of the wastewater is achieved. The conclusion includes a list of technologies used as the tertiary wastewater treatments with emphasis on membrane technologies. The second part of my thesis is a study of a project of a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) with membrane technology for the villages of Sloup and Šošůvka located within the protected landscape area of Moravian Karst.

They use nearby cave system for these purposes. This project consists of three main buildings – accommodation for patients, sanatorium and guest house. These objects are designed as well-functioning and cooperative complex which along with pleasant surroundings will satisfy all requirements needed for operating such a facility. The urban solution allows easy access to the centre of city Ostrov u Machochy and also into therapeutic caves. The final form of this study respects all important aspects of affected area and tries to naturally integrate into surrounding nature.
The City instead of the Factory
Sychrová, Eva ; Sátora, Josef (referee) ; Kopáčik, Gabriel (advisor)
"The urban environment serves many roles. It would also be such that we remember them and looking at them, feel pleasure. "[Kevin Lynch] The proposal deal with the multifunctional building near the city center. The place is located on the pass company Kras . The overall design is based on the analysis and planning studies prepared in the previous semester. The main idea is to make the function part of the city, which will primarily serve residents of the city. A place that is pleasant to meet, for recreation, relaxation and active leisure. Instead of living as well as services, commerce and administration. Instead of a vibrant life where it will be easy to navigate and enjoyable stay. The building is trying to combine the advantages of living downtown housing in the countryside. Town house should be lively. Everywhere something is happening, people stop, where to shop and spend time here. Living in the countryside provides plenty of privacy and tranquility. The proposal is currently trying to combine these advantages. The result is a house that provides plenty of features and incentives to meet and have sufficient facilities (garage). But it also offers a private area surrounded by greenery and overlooking the city features. The architectural appearance of the building seeks to reflect its main function - to provide "living"house. It also seeks a characteristic and easily remembered building in connection with quote Kevin Lynch (see above). This creates a compact three-storey compound in services and garages, which are then apartment buildings with flats of different sizes, each with a balcony or a garden that allows for contact with nature. Loggia are designed in bright colors and add vibrancy and playfulness of the building.
