The different economic effects of the Covid-19 crisis on women and men in the Czech Republic
Menzel, Andreas ; Miotto, Martina
Women are very likely economically and socially affected harder by the Covid-19 crisis for at least three reasons. They are disproportionally employed in sectors affected harder by Covid-19 related lock-downs (tourism, hospitality, retail, services). They are likely to shoulder more of the additional child-care needs due to the closing of schools and child-care facilities. They are more likely to be victims of domestic violence, with many indicators pointing towards an increase in domestic violence due to the lock-down.
Gender discrimination in the work process and labor market
Zelová, Dagmar ; Němec, Otakar (advisor) ; Tošovský, Michal (referee)
Thesis of this study is concerned with gender discrimination and involves position of women in the labor market of the Czech Republic. Exists the pay gap between women and men in the same position? If so, how much is the wage gap? Do have women and men the same opportunities? These and other questions are solved in my work, but the main objective is to confirm or disprove the existence of discrimination in the work process and analyze labor market in 2008. The main source of information was the document "Focus on women and men 2009", which on its website provides a CSO. Conclusion of this work contains answers to the questions and my subjective opinions.
