Dopad pandemie COVID-19 na vinařství a jeho subjekty na Znojemsku
Kochan, Daniel
This bachelor thesis deals with the COVID-19 impact on winery and its subjects in the Znojmo region. The theoretical part consists of winery sector introduction and the description of the wine making process from harvesting to selling of final products. Furthermore, it contains an introduction of the COVID-19 pandemic and its influence on wine tourism. Additionally, the problems faced by states like France, Spain, and Italy, who are the wine-making elite, are introduced. Next, similar problems faced by the Czech Republic are described and its division into wine sub-districts is depicted. The practical part contains a research based on the analysis of publicly accessible data published by the Czech Ministry of Agriculture, the Wine Fund and the Znojmo Cultural Department. Consequently, the research was supported by a qualitative research method, specifically by semi-structured interviews with respondents who stand at different positions in terms of their business size. Based on this, indicators of the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on winery are created, enriched by answers of every respondent. The individual wineries experienced a negative impact on their finances and wine sales to the foodservice industry. Respondents agreed on the negative impact in terms of wine tourism and, in the case of large wineries, with interrupted plans for business expansion.
