Impacts of the global crisis on the Irish economy

Bachelor thesis deals with the impacts of the Global financial and economic crisis on the Irish economy. The aim of the thesis is to give a coherent analysis of the Irish economy and to evaluate the extent of global crisis' influence on the Irish economy. The thesis is divided into three main chapters. The first chapter desribes inception of the crisis and the way of crisis' spread into Europe and rest of the world. Irish economy development since 1950 till the beginning of crisis in 2007 is analysed in the second chapter. The analysis of this development is crucial for understanding of the cause of Ireland's economic recession origin. Finally, the third chapter focuses on the impacts of the global crisis on the Irish economy. The impacts on internal and external economic balance are described gradually as well as the measures which Government of Ireland has taken in order to rescue the Irish economy.

Foreign direct investments have an important role in current global economy. Their inflow is accelerated by deregulation of financial flows and the globalization of economics. Attractiveness for foreign investments is an integral part of economic policy in small open economy. Inflow of capital has not only the positive effects. The negative ones could be pushing for appreciation of currency or the problem of massive repatriation of profits
Convergence process to EMU - the problem of internal and external economic equilibrium (example of Slovakia and the Czech Republic)

The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the process of convergence of the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic. The first chapter describes the historical background of the Treaty on European Union and analyzed in detail the criteria that were set for euro entry. The second part is focused on the fulfillment of the convergence criteria of the Czech Republic, the development of individual indicators in the past and presumptions into the future. The third chapter examines the fiscal, monetary and exchange rate policy in relation to compliance with the convergence criteria in the Slovak Republic. Conclusion summarizes and compares the acquired knowledge.
