Incubation behavior of the arctic tern Sterna paradisaea in extreme conditions of northern tundra
Hromádková, Tereza ; Pavel, Václav (advisor) ; Praus, Libor (referee)
Short breeding period and harsh climatic conditions are major limiting factors to which birds have to adapt in northern tundra regions. Despite this fact, dozen species of birds annually migrate into these regions to increase their chances to breed successfully. My diploma thesis focuses on incubation behaviour of the Arctic tern (Sterna paradisaea). The research for my thesis took place on the Norwegian archipelago Svalbard, in two particular locations: Adolfbukta and Longyearbyen. By using the method of continuous video recording, I described incubation behaviour of this specie in detail. Human activity is very different on each of Adolfbukta and Longyearbyen. On site Adolfbukta study was conducted during seasons 2012 and 2014, both with different predation pressure. Having known that, I could evaluate the impact of human activity as well as the impact of different predation pressure on incubation behaviour and breeding ecology of Arctic tern. The presence of human close to the colony had significant effect on incubation behaviour. Due to higher disturbances, incubating birds tended to leave their nests more often, attention paid to the nest was smaller and calm incubation (sleeping on the nest) was shorter by a half. Human activity had no effect on other displays such as average clutch size or...

Analysis of foreign language interactions in the context of early immersion. Qualitative research of communication strategies based on videorecording.
KŘIKAVOVÁ, Alena
This diploma thesis focuses on teaching German language to preschool children in Czech nursery schools. The theoretical section defines the conditions of early foreign language learning and opinions on it, and presents arguments for early German as a second language learning. Suitable methods for education of preschool children are discussed as well. The aim of this thesis is to determine and compare how early foreign language learning is realized in particular preschool institutions, based on the information from videos made within the project "Intercultural education of children, students and teachers". E.g. whether the children understand instructions given in foreign language and the teacher's speech, the extent to which the communication takes place in German within the group, which activities are most often used, the ways or forms of implementation of these activities and whether they meet the conditions of early foreign language learning. The diploma thesis summarizes the education methods of individual preschool institutions and identifies potential mistakes made, and it suggests more effective ways of teaching.
Methodology of athletic warm ? up and its usage in school educational programme
LAJER, Jan
Graduation thesis focuses on warm ? up in a way of running drills, so called ABC running drills. It shortly presents dilemmas of physical load and preparation of human organism by warm ? up on physical load. It continues with zoom in running skills and advances on parts dedicated to concrete running excercises. Particular drills are captured on videorecording with audio commentary and it can be found in attachment. The ending is created by possibilities a suggestions for implementation of these drills in educational practice.
Strain field reconstruction of drawn polymer blends based on videorecording of stretching process
Převorovský, Zdeněk ; Krofta, Josef ; Blaháček, Michal ; Raab, Miroslav
Tensile tests of polypropylene and its blends with polyethylene and other additives have been recorded by digital camcorder. Acoustic emission (AE) was monitored during tests by two transducers attached to test samples, allowing linear location of AE**ces. Tested materials exhibit large localized plastic deformation - necking - reaching hundreds of percent before failure. Image analysis procedure is designed for quantitative evaluation of axial and lateral strains and strain rates along the sample
