In its theoretical part the bachelor thesis is focused on main corner stones of each film, in particular on relation between film art disciplines: location, architecture, props and costumes. Bounding and continuity between these subjects are investigated as well as their pictorial art were greatly demonstrated in films of sixties. Credibility, emotional and photogenic impacts are considered as basic film features. In its practical part the thesis is focused on films of Karel Kachyňa. The art direction-set decoration is analysed in films Trápení (1961), Závrať (1962) and Vysoká zeď (1964). This bachelor thesis therefore can serve as a study source for students of directory, cinematography and production. This work offers an introduction and insight of problematics of art direction-set decoration and defines basic themes and differences from film art point of view. In this way the thesis extends awarness and knowledge of Czechoslovak film making in sixties, especially of its special art direction-set decoration.
