Identifying user needs for museum website visitors with the main focus on families with children
Stará, Tereza ; Wančová, Nina (advisor) ; Pýcha, Čeněk (referee)
The bachelor thesis focuses on the user needs of families with children in the museum website environment. The bachelor thesis maps the user needs of families with children and analyses the web interface of the institution Centrum stavitelského dědictví Plasy. The theoretical part focused on the role of websites for museum institutions and linked these findings to the behaviour of families with children in museums. The practical part of the thesis consists of qualitative research in the form of interviews with ten representatives of parents and children and their analysis. The questions focused on the circumstances of visits, families' decision-making and reflection on the sites. The research shows what makes families with children a specific target group visiting museums and what their specific needs are, and importantly, the physical visit cannot be separated from their user needs on the institution's website. These user needs should also be reflected on the website of the respective organisations, which is increasingly the case nowadays. Although more and more museums are focusing on families, the thesis also identifies room for improvement, both in general and with a set of specific recommendations for the Centrum stavitelského dědictví Plasy website.
