Kvaššay, Lukáš ; Vágner, Lukáš (referee) ; Jura, Pavel (advisor)
Selected site is located on the outskirts of the city centre of Brno, at a crossroad of streets Stará and Bratislavská. The area of the site is 3402 m2. The building is designed to respond to urban disposition, pedestrian paths and needs of the city. Main goal of the project was to design a polyfunctional building which includes housing units, parking lot, shops and also sports hall. The proposal of sports hall is based on connection with possibilities of the site and needs of nearby preschool and elementary school which is dealing with issues of its sports hall unsatisfactory capacity. The sports hall will be also available for general public. Another goal of the project was design of area in front of entrance of Radosť theater which is situated next to the site. The building consists of two main parts with different heights. The sports hall is also integrated to the object with height separation from main parts. The object was sensibly incorporated to adjacent buildings. This layout clearly defines three main spaces between the parts of building with distinct features. There is public piazzetta located in front of the Radosť theater which supports its cultural significance. Between the two main parts there is semipublic open space which includes children playground. Semiprivate space is situated on the north side of the object and offers rentable gardens. The building was designed with consistency with a sustainable development.

Lipan, Andrej ; Innemanová, Petra (advisor) ; Cajthaml, Tomáš (referee)
Through the Green Study Room pilot project, the thesis explores the integration of a circular bio-waste management model at the Otava College under the administration of Charles University. The thesis describes the circular economy as an essential method for the efficient management of bio-waste, which is supported in particular by legislation and strategic goals for sustainable development of states, cities and institutions. A questionnaire survey was conducted to assess the awareness and interest of students in establishing a community vermicomposting site. The reconstruction of the study room creates a space to prevent the generation of biodegradable waste on the dormitory premises. Vermicomposting was used as an eco-friendly approach that takes advantage of earthworm's natural ability to convert organic waste into nutrient-rich compost. The establishment of a community shared study room sets the stage for ongoing projects in the areas of centralized bio-waste management, student education, and social-psychological phenomena associated with the transition to a more sustainable society. It also creates an ideal space for seminars, workshops and activities of the university in the field of improving the living standards of students staying at Otava College. The incorporation of the community...

Ekonomická racionalizácia pre industriálnu politiku v rozvojových krajinách
Škropeková, Andrea ; Klosová, Anna (advisor)
The role of the government in an industrialization process of developing countries is highly debated. The opinions of scholars diverge. Proponents of extensive government involvement claim that it is a key to sustainable development, while opponents see it as an obstacle to it. The goal of my thesis is to analyze what consequences has had the reduction in the weight of the State in economies of developing countries, especially in Kenya. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first one talks about an evolution of industrial policies in the developing countries. Since the end of colonialism, import substitution had become a dominant pro development strategy in most developing countries, but in 1980s it was substituted by the structural adjustment programmes (SAPs). Those two sets of development strategies are described and assessed in this part. The second part of the thesis is a case study of Kenya. In this part I describe and assess industrialization policies of Kenyan government, analyze a change of its economic freedom since an adoption of SAPs and an influence of an increase in economic freedom on industrialization and social welfare.
