This bachelor thesis deals with issues of piston rings used in modern petrol engines. The first part is focused on describing of functions and requirements with which piston rings must deal with. Next part is aimed on shapes of piston rings. Materials from which are piston rings made of are part of third chapter. For proper function, it is important to make some surface treatment. The last chapter contains surface treatment of piston rings.

First point deals with the functions of piston rings and with the demands for them, in the second point there is a division according to the type of the ring and constructing solution. Another chapter deals with materials that are used the most when fabricating piston rings and the last chapter deals with the surfacing that is used the most.
Roman silver vessels in Central European barbaricum

In this diploma thesis we shall analyze Roman silver vessels and their German imitations which were discovered on the territory of Central European barbaricum. In the first chapter, there is a brief introduction into the examined topic along with a definition of spatial and chronological frame within which we shall operate. The second chapter is devoted to the general information about mining and processing of silver, manufacturing and decorative techniques used in manufacturing of silver vessels, as well as to the basic information about Roman tableware. In the third chapter, we shall summarize the actual state of research on Roman silver vessels, while the fourth chapter will be devoted to the detailed list and analysis of individual finds. In the fifth chapter, the described finds will be summarized and interpreted, and consequently completed by the final remarks and findings in the last chapter. The catalogue of the finds, bibliography of cited literature, table, map and illustrations is attached to the textual part of this work. The main goal of this thesis is to implement learning library Shapes for shapes drawing and simple animation. Part of the thesis is also a sample application, which shows usage on a traffic simulation in a town. The theoretical passage is focused on the Java ME platform characteristics, its differences from the popular Java SE and some new features. The next part is devoted to the description of the implementation process of the mentioned library and especially to distinguish the differences that have been caused by the platform switch. In conclusion of the chapter there is a user guide describing how to make an application based on this library ready to work on any mobile device.
