Detection and Classification of Vehicles for Embedded Platforms

Táto práca hodnotí kompromisy rýchlosti a presnosti najmodernejších detektorov objektov YOLOv8 pre detekciu vozidiel v snímkoch z monitorovacích kamier na vstatných a nízkovýkonných zariadeniach. Modely YOLOv8 rôznych veľkostí, vrátane jedného s efektívnou sieťou MobileNetV2 na extrakciu príznakov a modelu YOLOv8-femto s menej ako \num{60000} parametrami, boli testované na šiestich zariadeniach, vrátane troch vstavaných platforiem z rodiny NVIDIA Jetson a počítačom Raspberry Pi 4B s nízkou výpočtovou silou. V práci boli zohľadnené rôzne faktory ovplyvňujúce výkonnosť modelov, ako napríklad ich kvantizácia, rozlíšenia vstupu, inferenčné knižnice a veľkosti dávok počas inferencie. Táto štúdia poskytuje užitočné informácie k vývoju a nasadeniu detektorov vozidiel na širokú škálu zariadení, od nízkovýkonných procesorov po špecializované vstavané platformy.
Trade-offs in parasitoid resistance and competitive ability in Drosophila

Trade-offs in fitness traits in Drosophila were studied in a laboratory environment. Fly and wasp lines originated from an ecological community in a tropical rainforest in Queensland, Australia and were established in České Budějovice. Experimental evolution was used to impose selective pressures on populations of flies to select for parasitoid resistance and competitive ability. The selection regimes were followed by two separate phenotyping experiments to measure the resulting phenotypic changes and impose novel conditions to the evolved flies in order to identify trade-offs.
Acoustic and visual signalization in birds: Identification of key components and their role in sexual selection

This bachelor thesis is focused on describing visual and acoustic signals in birds and their potential role in the process of sexual selection. Evidence that acoustic and visual signals are sexualy selected is summarized. The key characters that can be utilized in comparative studies are determined. In the first chapter of the thesis are briefly outlined mechanisms of sexual selection and evolution of costly secondary male ornamentation. In the second chapter basic avian ornaments (colouration, acoustic signals) are described. The emphasis is on visual and acoustic structures which are costly to produce and serve as honest indicators of individual condition. The third chapter is devoted to the possible trade-offs between visual and acoustic signalization in birds. The last section summarizes hypotheses about potential relationships between visual and acoustic signalization (and trade-offs between these two types of ornamental traits) in relation to changing environmental conditions.
Assessing ecosystem services and the alternatives of their future development in UNESCO Biosphere Reserves

The provision of ecosystem services within social-ecological systems is influenced by multiple environmental and anthropogenic driving forces, affecting natural ecosystems. At the same time, the capacity of ecosystems to concurrently provide different types of ecosystem services is inherently limited. Thus, ecosystem changes and their effect on ecosystem services have direct implications for human existence and well-being. The aim of this thesis is to present a modelling approach to assess regulating, provisioning and cultural ecosystem services and to quantify their potential trade-offs, illustrated by two case studies carried out in selected UNESCO Biosphere Reserves in the Czech Republic, Třeboň Basin Biosphere Reserve and Šumava Biosphere Reserve. Both of the selected case study areas are characterized by high levels of natural and cultural assets and challenges regarding future landscape management. In this study, first the social-ecological dynamics within the study areas was analysed by creating participative scenarios through collaboration with local stakeholders, eliciting their preferences regarding future landscape development to 2050. - 9 - Incubation strategies of selected duck species Summary of the PhD. thesis Avian incubation is an energetically demanding process. It holds true especially for uniparental incubators in which all incubation efforts are restricted to one individual. All ducks species breeding in northern hemisphere are representatives of birds with uniparental care. High demands of clutch formation and incubation make from ducks perfect model for testing factors influencing parent investment decisions. On the other hand parental investment to actual breeding attempt depends on many factors including breeding season duration, food supply, female's age, risk of predation or resilt of previous nesting attempt. So investigation of this complex problematic is extremely difficult. This thesis is focused on the most important phase of breeding cycle - incubation of clutch. Clutch incubation is associated with high energy cost to maintenance optimal temperature conditions for developing embryos. Morover incubation process can has large effect on female's body mass because of reduction of feeding time.
