Concept of an In-line Spark-ignition Engine

This thesis deals with comparison of straight four-cylinder petrol engine with a displacement of 1,5 litres and its three-cylinder alternative, which is based on a four-cylinder. The thesis starts with a research, where are examples of some currently manufactured engines. The research is followed by design of both engines, where the design of the crank mechanisms is made more in detail. After that, both crank mechanisms are subjected to dynamic analysis using FEM and MBS methods. The thesis ends with comparison of both engines in terms of crankshaft load, mass and dimensions.

Viscous type vibration damper of a four-cylinder diesel engine

The point of the dissertation is to describe the design of powertrain of four-cylinder diesel engine equipped with vibration damper. After estimating the discreet model of powertrain, forced vibration calculation is performed to design appropriate vibration damper. The following part describes the safety factor solution of crankshaft fatigue using FEM. The dissertation provides a useful comparison for versions with and without damper. Crankshaft and viscous type vibration damper drawings are also included as appendices.

Modification of a three-cylinder diesel engine to a single cylinder test engine

The master thesis deals with the design of a single-cylinder diesel piston internal combustion test engine by modifying the initial mass-produced three-cylinder engine. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the introduction to the problems of diesel and experimental single cylinder engines. Subsequent chapters focus on the adaptation of the baseline engine itself, including balancing of inertial forces. Furthermore, the crankshaft operability is checked, including the determination of safety against high-cycle fatigue. The last chapter deals with the design of the connection of the adapted unit to the dynamometer.

Powertrain design of a four-cylinder aircraft engine

This thesis named Powertrain of an four-cylinder aircraft engine dealing with configuration of the powertrain of a flat four-cylinder engine with ordered basic parameters. The thesis is focused on configuration design of the crank machanism and sequence ignition, balancing of centrifugal and reciprocating forces and their moment, conceptual design of crankshaft and its stress calculation. The thesis describing calculation of torsional vibration as well.
