Numerical and experimental inverigation of supersonic flow regimes at last stage of large output steam tip turbine cascade

Paper presents some aspect of the numerical and experimental investigation of the validation of the aerodynamic performance of supersonic tip section airfoil cascade. Paper deals with limitations of various investigation methods and tries to show that advances in future development of turbomachinery can be achieved through combination of these methods.
Tip Cascade Aerodynamics of Turbine Rotor Blade 1220 mm

The paper is focused on aerodynamic characteristics of the tip section of a steam turbine last stage rotor blade with an active span 1220 mm. The tip cascade is aerodynamically highly loaded with supersonic outlet flow at design of Ma = 1,6. CFD simulations with a Navier-Stokes code were used to design the flow structure. The results of calculations are discussed and compared with measured flow structures.
