Cooling Concepts in Power Electronics
Hőhn, Matěj ; Súkeník, Jakub (referee) ; Toman, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with cooling concepts in power electronics and experimental measurements of thermal resistances in two different fan-cooled heat sink samples. In the first part of the thesis, calculations of losses in semiconductor switching devices are described. These are losses due to current conduction and switching between operating states. Then the basics of heat transfer theory such as conduction transfer, convection transfer, radiation transfer, and thermal-electrical analogy are described. In the third section, the procedure for calculating the required thermal resistance of the heat sink is described. Then, cooling concepts in power electronics are described, which include basic types of heat sinks, fan-cooled cooling and its operating characteristics, heat pipes, thermoelectric cooling and the use of liquid systems, such as cold plates and boiling liquid cooling. The last part of the thesis describes the preparation of a laboratory workstation for measuring the thermal resistance of two different fan-cooled coolers and comparing the measured results.
Experimental equipment for testing of heat pipes efeciency
Vostřel, Vít ; Lošák, Petr (referee) ; Vlach, Radek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with construction of a measuring apparatus for measuring efficiency of heat pipes. The thesis first discusses heat pipes and all components of the measuring apparatus in theoretical way and than it describes construction of the real model and all needed calculations. The apparatus contains a movable arm to which the measured heat pipes are attached. The Arm is able to move form 0° to 90°. The apparatus construction procedure is also described here. The whole apparatus is controlled from the computer using Excel, macros created in Excel and Data Streamer tool.
Measurement of Cooler Efficiency and design of aerodynamic space
Částka, Michal ; Jankovský, Jaroslav (referee) ; Szendiuch, Ivan (advisor)
When measuring the effectiveness of air coolers on standard PC processors, there is considerable errors. Ambient air in which energy is transferred from the cooler in the form of heat is inconsistent and unpredictable. The aerodynamic space can simulate different air flow and thus ensure optimum measurement conditions and to minimize the impact of errors on the resulting value of efficiency.
Analysis of different means of heat recovery in ventilation
Dvouletý, Tomáš ; Krejčí, Vladimír (referee) ; Charvát, Pavel (advisor)
Bachelor´S thesis contains summary and expplanation of basic ideas related with topic of analysis of different means of heat recovery in ventilation like efficiency, economy of using atc. Main part of the work is dividing varied ways of heat recovery based on kind of used heat exchanger. There are description of principle of heat transfer with illustrative pictures including some other informations related to each heat exchanger. After that there is comparation of heat exchangers based on efficiency, enthalpy transfer capability and safety. This part also includes summary of advantages and disadvantages. Finaly there are brief report of market with heat exchangers in Czech republic and some others ways how to use gained heat.
