Bird and Mammal Taxidermy
Tuzová, Lucie ; Řezníček, Jan (advisor) ; Štěpán, Jiří (referee)
This thesis deals with the preparation of dermoplastic materials of birds and mammals. They are described in detail specific methods of preparation from the collection of material to its final treatment. The first section summarizes the theoretical knowledge concerning preparation of dermoplastic models and osteological material. The second part is dedicated to knowledge survey of high school and primary school students concerning recognition of birds and mammals dermoplastic models. The results are processed by descriptive statistics. Keywords: taxidermy, dermoplastic models and osteological material, skulls, teeth, birds, mammals.
Made of three dimensional teaching aids
Strnadová, Kristýna ; Řezníček, Jan (advisor) ; Novotný, Petr (referee)
This work deals with vertebrates bone preparation of birds and mammals to enrich the science classes at secondary school. It also expands the collection of vertebrate skeletons at the department of biology and enviromental studies. The display would be enriched by Talpa europea, apodemus sylvaticus, rattus rattus, alectoris rufa and skulls of octodon degus. In this work there are described ways how to prepare taxidermy and bone preparation is described from the beginning of collecting vertebrates, then methods of preparation (maceration, hot water maceration, dermestidae bettles and more) including degreasing and bleaching and final treatment not the get it damaged by insect. This work is completed by survey. There are involved teachers of biology at elementary schools. The idea of questionnaire was to find out what's equipment like and how often do teachers use nature products to enrich the lessons. Key words - taxidermy, osteological preparation, birds, mammals
Taxidermy of the birds and mammals
Ouřadová, Petra ; Řezníček, Jan (advisor) ; Mazalová, Jana (referee)
The main subject of this thesis is the taxidermy. The taxidermal mounts will be used as a teaching tools in teaching practice. The thesis is a comprehensive guide for creation of the taxidermal mounts of birds and mammals. There are described both old and modern methods of taxidermy in this thesis. Thesis is enriched with news from contemporary foreign literature. The result of thesis is 8 mounts (6 birds, 2 mammals) which will use as teaching tools during teaching of biology. Key words: taxidermy, preparation, bird, mammal, teaching tool
Taxidermal Mounts of the Reptiles, Small Mammals and Fishes
Kubátová, Claudie ; Řezníček, Jan (advisor) ; Poláchová, Tereza (referee)
1 ABSTRACT The thesis is conceived as detailed guide to create a dermoplastic models for teachers of natural history and biology. The first part focuses on the actual field of taxidermy and its methods. It includes some possible methods leading to the making of dermoplastic models of mammals, reptiles and fishes. The second part describes the created models of mammals, reptiles and fishes. This section also contains the characteristics of individual species and recent research from specialized foreign literature.
Taxidermy and skeletal mounts in the vertebrates
Zámečníková, Nikola ; Řezníček, Jan (advisor) ; Tuzová, Lucie (referee)
This final thesis represents a complete guide to making didactic aids which can be used in teaching Biology in primary and secondary schools. It completes my bachelor thesis on the topic of the Taxidermy of selected species of birds with detailed photographs of individual steps made throughout the creation process of a dermoplastic mount. It also compares the creation of bird mounts to those of mammal mounts, and it deals with making skeletons of vertebrates. This final thesis acquaints the reader with the taxidermic species, and includes research of foreign literature focussing on interesting facts about mounts. The final output of this thesis is a series of mounts and assembled skeletons of different species of vertebrates, which can all be used as didactic aids at the Department of Biology and Environmental Studies, Faculty of Education, Charles University. KEY WORDS taxidermy, skeletons, vertebrates, didactic aids, dermoplastic mount
Taxidermy of Small Mammals and Passerines
Pulková, Nikola ; Řezníček, Jan (advisor) ; Ouřadová, Petra (referee)
01 Abstract Diploma thesis deals with taxidermy techniques of birds and small mammals leading to the production of own taxidermal mounts, which can be afterwards used as suitable didactical tools in the education of biology. Thus the thesis is presenting a comprehensive guide for creation of taxidermal mounts. At the same time, all the the stated procedures are applied at couple of species used for taxidermical purposes. Apart from the techniques itself which are described in methodological part, the thesis is enriched with the description of individual groups and therefore, creates theoretical introduction about the species. The thesis also depicts the production of all described taxidermal mounts. Results of this thesis are in total 8 taxidermal mounts (3 birds and 5 mammals), additionally also osteological material in the form of skeleton of Apodemus sylvaticus and skulls of 3 described small mammals. All the stated taxidermal mounts will serve as didactical tools for needs of Department of Biology and Environmental Studies at Faculty of Education in Prague. Key words: dermoplastic models, taxidermal mounts, osteological material, taxidermy, birds, mammals
Bird Taxidermy in Selected Bird Species
Hepnarová, Věra ; Řezníček, Jan (advisor) ; Mazalová, Jana (referee)
The thesis briefly describes some techniques of preparation which should lead to creating ornithological dermoplastic preparations and their use in education and biology. These techniques are shown on several bird species. The thesis can be also used as a instruction for creating ornithological dermoplastic bird preparations. It shows some problems of preparation technice. The main goal of the thesis is creating a real ornithological preparations which are, used for education on Pedagogical Faculty of Charles University in Prague. Key words: teaching practices, preparation, taxidermy, birds, ornithological preparation
