Nickel alloys in aerospace
Šprincl, Jan ; Nopová, Klára (referee) ; Němec, Karel (advisor)
The aerospace industry is one of the fastest growing industries today. Increasing demands on the efficiency and fuel consumption of jet engines can be met, among other things, by using higher quality materials, which clearly include nickel-based superalloys, which can meet these demands. This work provides an overview of these materials: both the building block of the whole structure - nickel, superalloys in general, and especially those nickel-based. It deals with the composition of the microstructure formed by the austenitic matrix ( phases) most often cured by carbide or substitution precipitates, unique mechanical properties, but also the influence of high temperatures and creep on the degradation of these properties. The work also includes a comparison of selected superalloys from different perspectives, especially according to the type of particles that cure the matrix or the effect of loading on the superalloy in the presence of thermal oxidation environment. Depending on the area of application, these materials are predestined for further future development and improvement, because their unique properties in areas with extreme conditions are irreplaceable for the time being.
The materials used in Honeywell Aerospace Olomouc and their characteristics in relation to manufacturing processes
Byrtus, Robin ; Němec, Karel (referee) ; Věchet, Stanislav (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with materials that are used at Honeywell Aerospace Olomouc in the production of static aircraft engine parts. The first part both defines the required attributes of materials used in the aerospace industry and deals with thermal processing, chemical composition and structure. In the next part, there are selected some materials that are used at Honeywell Aerosapce Olomouc. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of these materials, as well as influence of the materials attributes on production processes and the prospect of their use.
Manufacturing, use and properties of nickel alloys
Kejha, Richard ; Blažík, Petr (referee) ; Záděra, Antonín (advisor)
This thesis presents a literary recherche of matters concerning on industrial use of nickel aluminates, especially on refractory and incandescent alloys. In this dissertation are witten basic market brands of constructional, refractory and incandescent alloys, and then their selected representatives. There are listed the basic properties of given materials and their approximate comparison. The basic constructional materials are monel alloys based on Ni-Cu, which achieves very good mechanicl properties and excellent corrosion resistence. Refractory and incandescent materials are mostly based on Ni-Cr or Ni-Cr-Fe. Their mechanical features are very different in normal conditions and even in high operating temperatures because there are used different kinds of addition elements and their concentration. These alloys are usually additioned by elements like W, Cu, V, Al, Nb, Ti, Ta, Mo, Co, Zr, B.
Survey of applications of investment casting from ferrous alloys and super-alloys
Smilovský, David ; Zemčík, Ladislav (referee) ; Horáček, Milan (advisor)
A content of this thesis is a survey of casting applications from specific alloys manufactured by investment casting. Thesis shows basic principles of investment casting method, its possibilities and advantages. It also lists a short metallurgical description of ferrous alloys a superalloys cast by this method. The main aim is on specific industrial branches, where these precise castings are used. There are specific applications of parts presented from various Czech and foreign foundries.
Machinability testing of the UmCo50 alloy
Chladil, Jan ; Kolomý, Štěpán (referee) ; Zemčík, Oskar (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the problem of machining of refractory and corrosion resistant alloys with a focus on the superalloy UMCo-50. The thesis discusses the properties of suitable cutting materials for turning superalloys, with emphasis on coated sintered carbides, which form the most numerous group of cutting materials. The basic factors that directly affect not only the durability of the cutting edge but also the machinability of the materials are described, together with the manifestations of cutting edge wear. Subsequently, using the theoretical knowledge, an experiment is designed to qualify the machinability of the mentioned superalloy, while maintaining compatibility with the tests already carried out.
