Cardiopulmonary emergency resuscitation by the general public
SOKOLT, Jakub
The thesis focuses on the problematic of providing cardiopulmonary emergency resuscitation by general public. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with identification of sudden cardiac arrest and most common causes of it. Furthermore, it deals with emergency resuscitation, first aid principles and emergency calls. Great emphasis is placed on the recommended practices for emergency resuscitation in adults and in child with cardiac arrest. Recommended practices focus, among other things, on the speciffic situations such as airway obstruction and drowning. The last theoretical part of thesis deals with the automated external defibrillator (further AED) and its operation by lay rescuer. The empirical part pursues two objectives. The first one is to map the knowledge of cardiopulmonary emergency resuscitation in adult patients. The second objective is to map the knowledge of cardiopulmonary emergency resuscitation in child patients. For the empirical part of the thesis the qualitative research in the form of semi-structured interviews was chosen. The research sample was made up of 8 non-selected members of the general public in the area of South Bohemian Region and Vysočina Region. Results were then categorized into 13 categories. Results show that questioned general public has significant shortcomings in recommended Basic life support practices. All questioned informants agreed they would welcome educational programs which would increase the knowledge of Basic life support practices of lay people.
Using of an Automated External Defibrillator by Non-Medical Components of the Integrated Rescue System in the Liberec Region
GROFOVÁ, Karolína
This bachelor's thesis is focused on the using of an automated external defibrillator by non-medical components of the Integrated Rescue System in the Liberec Region within the framework of performing urgent cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The aim of this work is to evaluate the frequency, time course and results of interventions in cases of patients with sudden cardiac arrest, in which an automatic external defibrillator was used by the non-medical component of the Integrated Rescue System. The work is divided into two main parts. The first part is a systematized theoretical overview of basic information on the issue. The second part is focused on practical aspects and is created from data obtained from the basic components of the Integrated Rescue System. The data were examined by descriptive statistics methods. Based on the obtained outputs, a systematic overview of the outcomes of first responders to sudden circulatory arrest was created. This overview mainly includes data outputs focused on the frequency of activation of first responders, the time of their arrival at the scene, the success of resuscitation in the pre-hospital phase and the outcome of the patient. The information obtained was compared with the conclusions of foreign studies focused on the same area. The period for which the data were collected included the year 2017 after May 2021. At the end of the work, an evaluation of the key results is made and suggestions for further research related issues are given.
Dispatch life support
VÁŇOVÁ, Petra
Dispatcher of medical operation center casts an important and significant role in the chain of survival for emergency resuscitation. Within a short time must quickly and accurately provide information from the caller, delegate a professional help to the place of an incident. Timely launch telephone-assisted resuscitation, which this thesis is about. The first goal was set to chart providing phone-assisted cardiopulmonary resuscitation dispatchers at the regional operational center of emergency medical services. Analyze the process by which the dispatchers manage and provide instructions for conducting cardiopulmonary resuscitation, whether these guidelines actually manage and provide proper instruction to all rescuers. The second goal was to explore the motivational factors MUDr. Ondřej Fraňěk, the author of a publication "The manual of medical dispatcher in operations center " who was deeply engaged in telephone-assisted resuscitation. This goal should be focused on the analysis of the story of the author and the origin of interest to the issue. The research was conducted by qualitative method of data processing. To the research part of the thesis I used to analyze six audio recordings of emergency calls from the archives of the Regional medical operation center of South Bohemia, where dispatchers recognized by the affected persons malfunction of vital signs and started the phone-assisted resuscitation. The recordings were transcribed into electronic form and analyzed. I also realized interviews with MUDr. Franěk, with MUDr. Kratochvil, head doctor of Air Rescue Service of South Bohemia and Mrs. Hornychová, deputy head of the paramedical staff of the Regional Medical Operations Centre South Region. The results of the analysis showed that most of the dispatchers is not progressing adequately in providing telephone-assisted emergency resuscitation. The second objective was not achieved because it has not been possible to obtain the data needed to evaluate the objectives. Dispatchers, after reading my thesis, you can think over this issue. Work can be an incentive for self-improvement and improvement of the results. Prospective students of paramedical staff in health service can help as a source of information.
Resuscitation of the patient with LUCAS II
CHRT, Michal
The thesis deals with a mechanical resuscitation system LUCAS II. The LUCAS system is one of the most frequently used devices for a mechanical cardiac massage. The thesis introduces readers to the most current knowledge about its effectivity and safety. The opening chapters are dedicated to sudden cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The following chapter are introducing the reader to the use of the LUCAS system during urgent resuscitation. They are describing its application in specific cases, which could be transport or resuscitation in catheterization laboratory. The thesis is formed theoretically. The main sources are formed by clinical studies and other professional articles. The main goal of the thesis is to summarize existing knowledge about mechanized cardiac massage with the LUCAS II device while giving cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The use of LUCAS system doesn't show improvement in the survival rate of patients in comparison with manual heart massage. Its main benefit is applied in complicated situations, when it is not possible to carry out manual chest compression. During transport and in cath lab the LUCAS system seems like an effective tool, which can raise the chance of cardiac arrest survival. The thesis provides up-to-date summary of given problematics and can serve as a study material for medical study programs.
Cardiac arrest in terms of prehospital care.
ŠVANDA, Pavel
This thesis is about sudden cardiac arrest in conditions of pre-hospital immediate care. This issue was, is and will be a current topic that we must draw attention to because sudden cardiac arrest outside of hospital facilities is the most common cause of death in the civilized world. Theoretical part of this thesis includes basic information not only about SCA and its treatment but it also describes who is a paramedic, his job description and authority given by the law. Marginal portion of the theoretical part is devoted to cardiac arrest and its treatment. It is described in a way that is easy to understand for both professional paramedics as well as layman rescuers. Research part was done by qualitative form via half-structured interviews. Thesis has two goals. The first is to map the expertise of procedure of laymen in terms of basic immediate resuscitation. The second is to map the expertise of professional paramedics in terms of immediate resuscitation. Interviews were made up of sixteen questions which were answered by randomly picked respondents. Respondents were professional paramedics as well as students of University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The result from the research part is a statement that layman rescuers are not able to provide adequate assistance in time of cardiac arrest, and professional paramedics slightly differ compared to new recommended procedures during a cardiac arrest. The layman population situation demands a greater effort be put in education about this issue. In terms of professional paramedics, the situation will resolve itself after a recommended procedure is released which will be made available by an employer.
