Comparison of Montessori method approaches with procedures of structured learning in preschool children with Asperger syndrome
PROCHÁZKOVÁ, Eliška
The bachelor thesis focuses on comparing approaches of the Montessori method with the procedures of structured learning in preschool children with Asperger's syndrome. Two children with Asperger's syndrome, who are guided according to the given educational system, were selected to fulfil the goals of the qualification work. The Montessori method and structured learning procedures were compared in terms of suitability for any child with Asperger's syndrome as it was based on the observation of children in the relevant system and on the interviews provided by children's mothers, pedagogue, and teaching assistant of one of the boys. Everything was done in the design of the case study. The work is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part contains the specifics and basic information of Asperger's syndrome for the selection of the educational system, subsequent work with the child, and finally a description of the various approaches to the Montessori method and structured learning. The practical part deals with research data from interviews and observations, which are given to a broader context and are compared in terms of suitability for this type of disability.
