This thesis focuses on the forms and methods of support for individuals with mental illness aimed at helping them to return to normal life. The individual chapters of the thesis deal with the historical milestones of the emergence of psychiatry, the classification of mental illness and quality of life issues. Therefore, the most used therapeutic methods and strategies of working with clients are defined in the text, which lead to the adoption of appropriate daily habits, improvement of mental health and thus quality of life. The work also focuses on interdisciplinary cooperation, which, in addition to medicine, permeates other disciplines, namely psychology, social work and special education. The topic of my research is timely as an increasing number of people with mental illness are seeking professional help. Therefore, all team members should have sufficient knowledge of the symptomatology and nature of each psychiatric diagnosis. In order for interdisciplinary collaboration to be meaningful, the competencies of the individual professionals must be clearly defined. This creates an interconnected set of services aimed at making the person's integration into society and everyday life as easy as possible.
