Soft targets and crowded places protection using evacuation modeling
Dobiášová, Lucie ; Apeltauer, Tomáš (referee) ; Okřinová, Petra (advisor)
The thesis deals with the issue of protection of Prague's main train station as a soft target and it's regular operation, mainly by using evacuation model with emphasis on barrier-free issues. Mapping of the building was conducted by using Decree No. 398/2009 Coll. general technical requirements ensuring the barrier-free usage of buildings and their parts. Adapting the environment to people with reduced mobility is not always axiomatic, especially in terms of evacuation. For the movement of these persons it is necessary to take into account their needs and possibilities in normal traffic and during evacuation. The sociological and psychological aspects of crowd and individuals have also significant impact on evacuation. For identifying critical points of the main train station, it has been used knowledge of local research, knowledge of barrier-free buildings, sociology and psychology, and special simulation tools for modeling the movement of people. It has been found that space can be optimized by detailed analysis of simulation outputs to meet all expected requirements without negative impact on barrier-free domain. Thanks to this, it was possible to achieve a new design, which accomplishes higher safety of people with movement and orientation disabilities, especially during emergency situations in building of main train station Prague.
Selected Soft Target Risks
Handl, Petr ; Popelová, Barbora (referee) ; Adamec, Vladimír (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with selected risks of soft targets, which may have a negative impact on the safety and security of these objects. In the current, we can find an explanation of the concept of soft targets, the terrorism that affects them and possible ways of protecting those targets. In our own solution we find an evaluation of the vulnerability of soft targets, possible countermeasures and risks arising from these measures.
Modeling the movement of people when organizing festival events
Žalská, Kateřina ; Uhlík, Ondřej (referee) ; Okřinová, Petra (advisor)
The thesis deals with modeling the movement of people during the music festival Hradecký Majáles. This mass event is very popular in Hradec Králové, and its attendance reaches 17 thousand people. The thesis is focused on optimalization of the normal operation of the event, prediction of possible obstacles and possible danger. For analysis a few verification scenarios are created, including the scenario involving the emergence of danger and following simulation of evacuation of people. Within the analysis the key variables such as density, evacuation time and LoS. The critical places where people could get hurt, are selected. The new security precautions or optimization of site geometry optimizations are suggested for these places. In the conclusion of the 3 thesis is performed efficiency evaluation of the suggested changes resulting from the performed analysis.
The evaluation of protection of selected soft targets and the evaluation of preparedness of heritage conservation objects in terms of safety
KOVÁŘOVÁ, Lenka
The thesis is evaluated the conservation of selected soft targets in the South Bohemian Region as well as the readiness of these installations in terms of safety. The objective of this work is to evaluate the safety of the selected installations of historic preservation in the South Bohemian Region and characterise the tasks and actions of the basic components of the integrated emergency services when ensuring the conservation of these selected installations of historic preservation. This thesis aims to evaluate the safety and conservation of selected castles and chateaus in the South Bohemian Region. The installations in question are The State Chateau of Hluboká, The State Castle and Chateau of Český Krumlov, and The State Castle and Chateau of Jindřichův Hradec. In the first section, there is described the issues of the soft targets, their conservation, and protection, whereas, in the second section, there is provided a brief preview of the history of the conservation efforts for each castle and chateau and describe a number of unpleasant events that took place at the castles in the past. In the third section, I illustrate the castles' and chateaus' current use as well as their brief characteristics. In reply to the research questions "How is the conservation of the selected installations of historic preservation in the South Bohemian Region ensured?" and "How did the basic components of the integrated emergency services and, in particular, the Police of the Czech Republic participate in the conservation of the installations of historic preservation?", the answers of the semi-structured interviews with the responsible persons from the selected castles and chateaus are applied, as well as those of the responsible persons from the Fire Brigade of the South Bohemian Region and the South Bohemian Regional Police Directorate, of which this entire thesis and the objective of this work are based. Furthermore, the data taken from the semi-structured interviews are used in the SWOT analyses, which assemble the analysis of the safety and provision of conservation for each selected castle and chateau.

HORÁK, David
This diploma thesis deals with the readiness of security forces, especially the patrol service of the Police of the Czech Republic of the South Bohemian Region, which is most likely to be the first to find a suspicious object (eg a booby-trapped explosive system) and must solve the situation so as not to cause life and the health of citizens or property. The thesis defines the basic concepts and characteristics of booby-trapped explosive systems and the procedures for the disposal of these systems.
Security Measures to Protect Soft Targets Around the World
TŮMOVÁ, Kristýna
The subject of the Bachelor thesis entitled "Security Measures to Protect Soft Targets Around the World" is to map of security measures of soft targets in the world. The thesis is mainly focused on the measures of soft targets before emergencies and terrorist attacks. The aim of this work was to compare individual terrorist attacks on soft targets in selected countries and to test public awareness in the area of soft targets and terrorism. The theoretical part is divided into four main chapters. The first of these chapters provides basic information about soft targets, such as their definition, their distribution, as well as what makes soft targets attractive, how they are protected in the event of danger then general methods of protecting soft targets and protecting them in selected countries around the world. The second chapter deals with security measures and basic information about attacks on soft targets. The third chapter is about terrorism. Its definitions, division and types of terrorist attack. The fourth chapter describes specific terrorist attacks on soft targets. There were the terrorist attacks commited by organized groups on soft targets described in detail in the practical part. These attacks were further compared. Afterwards there was Quantitative research demonstrated by a questionnaire survey. The purpose of the questionnaire was to find out how the general public is doing in the field of knowledge of soft targets and terrorism. Based on the research, it can be stated that the general public is well versed in the issue of soft targets and terrorism and is informed in this area. After a comparison of terrorist attacks, it was found that thanks to individual politicians of selected states, it is possible that a similar act could be committed on the territory of the Czech Republic. The results of this bachelor thesis can serve for a deep study of this issue.
Evalution of preparedness of socially significant buildings in České Budějovice in terms of safety.
ELIÁŠOVÁ, Kristýna
The theoretical part of this thesis is divided into two notional parts. The first part deals with population protection, focusing mainly on evacuation, warning or emergency hiding. In this section, there are types of emergency exits specified and what devices can be included during evacuation. Warning is a crucial component of people's escape during an emergency situation, therefore it is essential to specify which tools can be used to warn people. The second part focuses on fire safety. There are types of fire documentation listed. A building has to have these documents compiled. To ensure the safety of people, it is important to organize regular training courses of fire safety for the employees, therefore it is an important section of the thesis. In the practical part of the thesis, a survey was carried out in a form of semi-structured interview with the head of safety department of chosen buildings in České Budějovice. The information acquired during the interviews were evaluated using SWOT analysis, which focuses on strong or weak aspects, opportunities and threats. The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the preparedness in the socially significant buildings in České Budějovice in terms of fire safety and population protection. The goal was to answer two research questions: "How are the buildings prepared in terms of fire protection?" and "How are the buildings and employees prepared in terms of population protection?" The results have shown that not every building is one hundred percent secure. The reasons are the different types of buildings, their age and possible investments into the reconstruction and purchase of new equipment.
