Investigating alternative carbonaceous materials for cost-effective anodes for sodium-ion batteries
Šimek, Antonín ; Čech, Ondřej ; Kazda, Tomáš
This study explores the potential of alternative carbonaceous materials as cost-effective candidates for sodiumion anodes. As the demand for energy storage solutions continues to grow, the search for affordable and sustainable battery components is becoming increasingly important. Carbon-based materials appear promising due to their abundance, low cost and favourable electrochemical properties. In this investigation, various carbon-based materials sourced from Czech Republic, including pitch coke, petroleum coke and dry quenched coke, are evaluated for their suitability as anode materials. The results of this study contribute to ongoing efforts to develop cost-effective and environmentally friendly energy storage solutions based on sodium-ion battery technology.
Study of Electrode Materials for Sodium-ion Batteries
Varmužová, Zdeňka ; Binar, Tomáš (referee) ; Libich, Jiří (advisor)
The content of this thesis is an introduction and presentation to the issue of sodium-ion batteries and a description of production of the own electrode material and its subsequent electrochemical characterization. It deals with the historical development of electrochemical sources of electrical energy from the first batteries to the current types. Study then discusses lithium-ion type batteries, which are closely related to the development of the studied sodium-ion batteries. From the point of view of sodium-ion batteries, the thesis focuses on their electrode materials, especially on anode materials based on sodium titanates. The thesis describes a synthesis of a sodium titanate and production of a negative electrode for sodium-ion battery application and construction of a test cell. The thesis then proposes and evaluates measurements verifying the properties of prepared sample of sodium titanate.
Study of electrode materials for post-lithium ion systems
Kekelák, Miroslav ; Jaššo, Kamil (referee) ; Kazda, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with studying electrode materials for post-lithium ion systems. The theoretical part describes the principle, history and construction of lithium-ion battery cells. A separate chapter is dedicated to the materials of positive and negative electrodes for lithium-ion batteries. The third chapter is dedicated to the principles of new generation lithium-air and sodium-ion batteries. The last chapter of theoretical part is dedicated to lithium-sulfur batteries, which describes their principle, history, used electrode materials and the influence of binders. The experimental part is dedicated to the preparation of the electrode material of lithium-sulfur accumulator in combination with water-soluble binders and their measurement using electrochemical methods.
