Application of cloud computing for map graphics processing automation, cost optimization using simulation methods
Fröhlich, Martin ; Bruckner, Tomáš (advisor) ; Dlouhý, Martin (referee)
The thesis deals with the use of cloud computing to solve computationally intensive task. Simulation methods are employed to analyze the operation of the proposed system before putting it into operation. Cloud computing makes the functionality of modern data centers accessible to small businesses, cloud allows scaling up and scaling down of resource usage on an as-needed basis; moreover, without high initial investments and long-term commitments. The paper examines in detail the ways to adapt the currently most popular cloud environment of Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud to the specific requirements of custom applications and suggests ways to automate the process of creation and customization of instance images. The automation and management of running applications in cloud environment is demonstrated on the example of geographic data processing and map generation application. The simulation model for running applications in the cloud is built and exploited to verify the ability of the proposed solutions to succeed in a production deployment.
Simulation of the course of the cultural event
Vávra, Michal ; Dlouhý, Martin (advisor) ; Kuncová, Martina (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the question of simulation models. It is divided into the theoretical and practical part. The aim of the opening part, in which the fundamental theory is defined, is to familiarize the readers with the ideas and advantages which simulation models can offer. In its practical part the work already focuses on the particular simulation project which should point out the possibilities of utilization of these models in practice. The subject of this project is the simulation of the course of the cultural event in the O2 Arena stadium. The main goal of this project is creation of the authentic simulation model which would on the basis of the later analysis enable the elimination or optimalization of the predefined major problems that are connected with organizing big cultural events in this arena.
Zkoumání chování distribučního řetězce na příkladu Beer Game
Hájek, Jiří ; Neumaierová, Inka (advisor) ; Vrbský, Petr (referee)
The paper examines the behavior of the supply chain through a system dynamic model. The theoretical part presents system dynamics, the Beer game and the simulation environment in which the model was created. In the practical part, the response of five surveyed decision-making order rules on the 4 patterns of demand is analyzed.
Simulation model of population development
Ďuricová, Ivana ; Kuncová, Martina (advisor) ; Langhamrová, Jitka (referee)
In these days one of the global problem seems to be continuous population growth. The most quickly rising population can be found predictably in the poorest developing countries of the world, which also have trouble with meeting basic demands of its inhabitants. That is why it is necessary to closely watch population trend, because it noticeably influences many social-economic issues like sufficiency of work opportunity, access to the education, housing etc.. This diploma thesis focuses on monitoring of population development of Slovak republic till 2025. The aim of thesis is creation of simulative model in program SIMPROCESS 4.3.1, which will offer transparent results of population development forecast. These model results in program SIMPROCESS 4.3.1 are compared with official population development forecast in Slovakia till 2025 published by Statistical Office of Slovak republic in 2007. The thesis is focused in detail on monitoring of demographical indicators like birth rate, mortality rate and migration.
Use of simulation programs for analyzing and improving the operation of the company (real situation)
Záhorovská, Zuzana ; Kuncová, Martina (advisor) ; Fábry, Jan (referee)
Aim of this thesis is to analyze the current situation, to identify bottlenecks and to propose improvements to the department of acquisitions in the selected financial company, which is an important part of the Czech market and which desire not to be named. In the first part of my thesis is provided to the reader a theoretical basis necessary to understand the following text. Then I create simulation models for individual teams, which take part in the mentioned department. These models are based only on average and total values. That is why in the next section, there is described the work to bring them closer to reality with shifts of administrators and the variable number of entities, which are processed throughout the day. Based on the analysis of calculated values, I propose two methods of redistribution of actions to reduce the number of employees and to increase their efficiency.
Simulation model (real situation)
Černohous, Roman ; Kuncová, Martina (advisor) ; Dlouhý, Martin (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyze and optimize production processes in a company which produces plastic components for the automotive industry. The theoretical part of this thesis summarizes basic knowledge of business process simulation and addresses the reasons for making use of dynamic simulation as a tool for eliminating dissipation and supporting decision making. The main focus is an analysis of the current situation and identifies the problems in the company. For the purpose of optimization, a simulation model was created using Simul8, by the Simul8 Corporation. The model was made in accordance with the methodology described in the theoretical part of this thesis. It was used to examine the efficiency of proposed versions of the production schedule, in light of its impact on storage capacity and service level.
Supply Chain Management and its optimization
Alipčenkov, Timur ; Kuncová, Martina (advisor) ; Fiala, Petr (referee)
Dissertation work comes with a summary of logistics evolution in the sphere of Supply Chain Management and focuses readers attention on the processes inside of supply chain. However dissertaion work is not just a huge methodological part, it also comes with an optimization part. Reader meets imaginary company trying to optimize a part of its distribution process by using modification of distribution technology "Hub and Spoke". Optimization computational procedure also consist of Traveller Salesman Problem (TSP). Fictional data for three days of testing where prepared by using MS Excel function of random numbers. For longer testing period dissertation work uses simulation technology represented by SIMPROCESS software.
The simulation model of the population growth
Urbanová, Kateřina ; Kuncová, Martina (advisor) ; Fiala, Tomáš (referee)
In this thesis, called a simulation model of population growth, there was created the simulation model of a population growth in the Czech Republic to the year 2052. First there was constructed the projection through the component method used in demography. Deterministic values obtained by this method are then used in the simulation analysis. In the simulation analysis there was conducted an experiment with three variables which influence the population growth (the fertility, life expectancy/the coefficient of the decline of the probability of the death/ and the migration balance). With the support of the Crystal Ball, supporting program for Excel, which provides the possibility of the simulations, there was determined the stochastic character of the three variables. There are created the low, medium and high variant of the projections, as well as three other possible variants of population growth that might occur. These variations are called economic crisis, friendly migration policy and restrictive migration policy.
Simulace politik komunikace z pozice Informačního manažera
Velehradský, Petr ; Mildeová, Stanislava (advisor) ; Rafaj, Jan (referee)
Managerial simulators enable us to experiment easily with all possible variants of alternative decisions. This facilitates the process of assessing the effective policies and strategies formed by the managers. The creation of simulators based on the principles of system dynamics in the background is the main point of interest of this diploma thesis. This paper is focused on building a simulator which would simulate policies of communication from the position of Information manager, depending on the variable settings of its parameters. The structure of the model and the parametrization of the simulator comes from practical experiences from the company called NETservis s.r.o., which specializes on the development of internet applications for large international companies. The simulator is therefore intended for the simulation of policies in this particular company, however can also serve as a referential model and be used by other companies.
