Fabrication of SiC optical metasurfaces
Štálnik, Jozef ; Idesová, Beáta (referee) ; Dvořák, Petr (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor's thesis was to optimize the manufacturing process of SiC meta-surfaces, which have emerged as a revolutionary replacement for classical optical elements due to their ability to control incident light through local phase modulation. Furthermore, it discusses the utilization of silicon carbide as a platform for these photonic devices and the experimental techniques employed in the meta-surface fabrication process. The experimental section presents the results of silicon carbide nanostructure fabrication, with dry plasma etching being the key optimization step. Finally, optical measurements of the phase profile of the resulting meta-surfaces are presented using off-axis digital holography. The main outcome of this work is the creation of a library of individual building blocks crucial for future applications.
Implementation of a Multipurpose Measurement System for (Sub)Terahertz Electron Spin Resonance Spectroscopy
Následně jsou ukázány příklady z měření pevných látek, konkrétně karbidu křemíku dopovaného vanadem (SiC:V), ftalocyaninu líthia (LiPc) a krystalu 1,3-bisdifenylen-2-fenylallylu (BDPA). Příklady demonstrují schopnosti spektrometru získat multifrekvenční vlnově spojitá EPR spektra a frekvenčně rozmítaná spektra v závislosti na teplotě a orientaci vzorku, a taky spektra pomocí rychlého skenování frekvencí
Low temperature tests and fracture toughness of selected ceramic materials
Beck, Branislav ; Drdlík, Daniel (referee) ; Chlup, Zdeněk (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with the determination of fracture toughness values of sintered silicon carbide and casted basalt using both the Single Edge V-Notch Beam (SEVNB) and the Chevron Notched Beam (CNB) methods at room and cryogenic temperatures. The first part of this thesis offers general overview and categorization of ceramic materials. Fracture mechanics of the ceramic materials and available fracture toughness testing methods are discussed in following chapters. The last section in the theoretical part is aimed to the microstructure and properties of the silicon carbide. Experimental part of the work summarizes methods used for characterization of selected materials from the microstructural and fracture point of view. Preparation of samples for microstructural observation and samples for fracture toughness determination are described in details. The results of the fracture toughness data for sintered silicon carbide and cast-basalt obtained at room temperature and at -100 °C are displayed. Consideration of possible measurements errors and application of various fracture toughness testing methods are discussed in the next chapter of this work. The difference in the fracture toughness values with the decrease of testing temperature was found. The difference depends on both, the used method of fracture toughness determination and the material used for the tests. The most important results gained during the experimental work are summarized in the chapter “Conclusions”.
Development of negative electrodes for lithium-ions batteries
Drahokoupil, Petr ; Libich, Jiří (referee) ; Sedlaříková, Marie (advisor)
This thesis deals with lithiation of negative electrode li-ion batteries. In this thesis is used several electrode materials: carbon, FeCl3, lithiated carbon electrodes and silicon carbide. Reduction of irreversible capacity lithium-ion batteries leads to increased capacity and also we can use new materials as a positive electrode. Thesis deals with the differences in the properties of materials using lithiation and their use in practice
Nanocomposites with a metal matrix
Chlupová, Monika ; Kohout, Jan (referee) ; Zapletal, Josef (advisor)
This baechelor thesis is focused on metal matrix nanocomposites (MMNCs), whose research has started recently. In the first part of this thesis are generally defined composite materials, the larger part is dedicated to metal matrix composites (MMCs), on which are described the strengthening mechanisms that are also applied to MMNCs. The second part of the thesis is focused specifically on MMNCs. The concept of MMNCs and their distribution is defined first, followed by a definition of the reinforcement that can be used for the production of MMNCs. There are also described the posibilities for the production of these reinforcing phases, and their influence on the structural and mechanical properties of the final MMNCs. This section is followed by a description of possible processes of MMNCs production with their advantages and limitations. The last part outlines how research and development of these materials should be carried out in order to be commercially produced and used in the future.

The bachelor thesis describes gate driving principles of power MOSFET transistors made of silicon carbide material. The autor's aim is describing a different types of gate drivers and basic rules during process of designing gate drivers. In the theoretical part, the author will mount printed circuit board of gate driver designed on UVEE FEKT VUT Brno and verify functionality.
DC-DC converter for onboard charging of electric vehicles
Holub, Miroslav ; Červinka, Dalibor (referee) ; Folprecht, Martin (advisor)
This master thesis deals with design of DC-DC converter for onboard charging of electric vehicle. Developed converter will mainly be used for charging stationary traction battery in laboratory. Output voltage of this charger will be adjustable by user in between 200 V and 450 V depending on the current charged battery configuration. Output current limit is set at 8 A. Since the converter will be supplied from standard household socket, the problem of power factor correction must be solved during the design. That is because a large part of this thesis is focused on describing the problematics of power factor correction. After that, active PFC module is designed, completed and performance of this module is verified. To achieve low overall losses and thus be able to keep small volume of the system, modern switching components based on Silicon Carbide were preferred. Beside laboratory use, completed system will be used to emphasize volumetric difference between onboard chargers based on old versus modern switching components.
