Ecological consequences of seasonal bird migration
Brlík, Vojtěch
Environmental seasonality, and associated fluctuation in resource abundance, affects organisms throughout their life cycles. Periods of resource scarcity can be avoided by seasonal migration, strategy common in animals, including birds. However, the long journeys of migratory birds separate the stages of their annual cycles in space and time, and present them with a variety of challenges. Environmental conditions that migrants experience may have local effects, or may carry over across seasons, and have delayed impacts on individuals and populations. To better understand the interactions between migratory animals and their environment, we integrated individual tracking, environmental measures, and population data within a full annual cycle perspective. We contributed to the understanding that environmental conditions can affect migratory populations both en route and during stationary non-breeding periods, and that their effects can be observed on a continental scale. We also showed, across species and migratory flyways, that stages of the annual cycle are tightly linked during migration, but that these links weaken during prolonged non-breeding stationarity, with implications for individual success and future prospects under ongoing environmental change. To enhance the ability to trace animal...

Plzáková, Petra ; Horská, Petra (advisor) ; Stará, Jana (referee)
The diploma thesis Topics of the cycle of the year in education at primary school deals with monitoring of the work of two primary school teachers who integrate the topic of annual cycle into their teaching methods. It conveys to the reader the characteristics of the developmental specifics of a student at primary school. It describes didactic procedures and methods suitable for mediating topics reflecting the annual cycle, such as the Step by step curriculum, integrated thematic teaching or project teaching. The empirical part presents qualitative research focusing on the usage of the topics related to the annual cycle in primary school teaching. The research was carried out at two Prague primary schools. The teachers selected for the research are first grade class teachers. The research is based on the observation of direct pedagogical work of the teachers, in-depth semi-structured interviews and uses document analysis as an additional method. The aim of...

The analysis of the evolution of color change landscape
Uhrovičová, Alena ; Vacek, Oldřich (advisor) ; Klára, Klára (referee)
The main focus of the thesis is the color influence of people and the color composition in the landscape. The other aim is the psychology meaning of the human perception of different colors. Further, the focus is on the phenology, which aims to annual changes of plant´s organs within the grow cycle and plant changes during one year. Through the phytocenology there is a space for mapping of occurrence and evaluation of vegetation cover. Also, there are described in more detail the color models. The methodology is focused on color change monitoring of the sample area, which is located in Šumava Mountains within one vegetation cycle. The color change is demonstrated by 12 photos, and after that is verified and evaluated by the time-lapse image analysis. The main aim of the analysis is to propose the objective analysis how to measure the color changes during a year. By the hypothesis, we verify, if it is possible to measure seasonal changes objectively or not.
