Rehabilitation after combinated tendon and nerve injury of the hand
ŽÁKOVÁ, Kateřina
This bachelor thesis aims to clarify the adequate rehabilitation procedures after lesions of the tendon and nerve apparatus of the hand, which were applied to the patient with a hand injury. The benefit of the selected rehabilitation methods was subsequently commented on in the discussion. The theoretical part deals with the anatomy and physiology of the hand, concretely with the flexor and nervous apparatus, which is essential for establishing the rehabilitation processes and improving collaboration between attending physicians. For a better orientation and understanding of the postoperative care, the thesis describes the procedures related to the surgical treatment of flexor tendons and nerves injury. It further introduces the most common rehabilitation procedures, soft tissue, antiedema and physical therapy, desensitization exercises, and adhesion prevention. Lastly, I comment on the protective splinting for the hand after tendon lesions and selection of splinting materials. In my bachelor thesis I applied qualitative research method. A patient from the Institute of Hand Surgery and Plastic Surgery in Vysoké nad Jizerou with a tendon and nerve lesion after trauma participated in the research. After the operation, a rehabilitation plan was created, applied and observed. The patient's condition was monitored from the day of the surgery for six months. Each checkup I cooperated with the surgeon.

Title: Possibilities of Rehabilitation for Patients after Injury of the Flexor Tendons of the Hand from the Perspective of an Occupational Therapist Abstract: The bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of rehabilitation options for patients who have suffered injuries to the flexor tendons in the hand. It serves as a summary of possible intervention of occupational therapists in patients with injured flexor apparatus. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part talks about the anatomy of the hand and flexor tendons and fine motor skills. The main part is devoted to the possibilities of rehabilitation, occupational therapy examination and therapy of patients suffering from this issue. The practical part contains three case reports of patients with injured flexor apparatus. The Functional Independence Measure (FIM) was used to evaluate patient's independence in activities of daily living. The Jebsen-Taylor test was used to evaluate fine motor skills and functional use of the upper limbs in daily activities. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the effect of rehabilitation treatment on disability in patients after flexor tendon injuries in the hands using the Functional Measure of Independence (FIM) test and to evaluate fine motor skills using the Jebsen-Taylor test....
