The diet of type 1 diabetics treated with insuline pumps
NOVÁČKOVÁ, Šárka
The bachelor thesis on the topic "Diet of type 1 diabetics treated with insulin pumps" focuses on the differences between the lifestyle of type 1 diabetic treated with a hybrid closed-loop insulin pump and the lifestyle of given type 1 diabetic with a previous method of diabetes compensation. In addition, the thesis examines the differences between the current diet of a diabetic on hybrid closed-loop insulin pump treatment and the nutritional recommendations for a rational diet. For the present bachelor thesis, a qualitative research was chosen and it included 9 respondents with type 1 diabetes treated with a hybrid loop insulin pump. Data was obtained through a semi-structured interview followed by analysis of weekly dietary information provided by each respondent. In the practical part, background information about the respondents is presented. In order to achieve the objectives of the thesis, the differences between the lifestyle and diet of type 1 diabetic with a hybrid loop insulin pump and the lifestyle and diet of that diabetic with previous diabetes treatment are further compared. Subsequently, each respondent's current average daily energy intake was tabulated and their optimal daily energy intake was related to their rational diet. Below the table, the respondent's weekly diet was described and their current energy intake was verbally compared to their calculated optimal daily energy intake. Finally, in the summary of results, I compared some recommendations for rational eating with the respondents' diets. As a result of the bachelor thesis, type 1 diabetics achieve a better quality of life with hybrid loop insulin pump treatment compared to previous diabetes treatment. Regarding the affinity of the rational diet with the current diet of diabetics, the results are different. From the results of the study, we found out that at least one nutritional recommendation for a rational diet matched the current diet of a diabetic.
Evaluation of the nutrition diversity and fulfillment of nutritional requirements of clients in a selected medical facility
JÍLKOVÁ, Kateřina
The thesis is focused on the evaluation of dietary diversity and nutritional composition of menus in a psychiatric hospital. The aim is to assess the level of dietary diversity of the clients and the fulfilment of their nutritional requirements in terms of energy and nutrient intake. The theoretical part introduces the topic of rational nutrition, according to which the diet that patients eat in the facility is drawn up, and the link between alcohol consumption and the absorption of major nutrients and micronutrients is also highlighted. The actual follow-up took place in the selected psychiatric hospital in 2022 and 2023. In terms of dietary diversity assessment, one month was selected in each season (January, March, June, September) and within this month, the third week was always selected in which the nutritional intake from the daily diet provided by the facility was determined. The nutritional composition of the weekly diets was determined using publicly available databases. The weekly nutrient intake was compared with the nutrient requirement standard for the adult population as determined by DACH (2019). Based on the results, it can be concluded that protein intake was higher than the established norm in all months. On the other hand, carbohydrate intake was found to be deficient in all the four months. Magnesium intake also proved to be deficient and did not reach the recommended intake in any of the months. The intake of thiamine was positive and was almost identical to the recommended daily intake. An assessment of the diversity of the monthly diets revealed that almost all food groups (milk and dairy products, fruit, vegetables, fish) were under-represented in the diet. The inclusion of legumes in the diet was met in the summer, winter and spring months. In the statistical evaluation, no significant differences were found between the months studied.

Comparison of dietary system in the hospital with a recommendation for a healthy population
VEČEŘOVÁ, Vendula
The bachelor thesis named "Comparison of dietary system in the hospital with a recommendation for a healthy population" concerns about fulfilling the guideline daily amounts of nutrients in hospital. That implies accepting appropriate food in ideal ratio. This is important for correct operation of every living organism. A problem with such a food intake can occur when an organism is weakened by illness. This bachelor thesis studies the availability of all nutrients and appropriate food in hospital diet. Importance is put on the correct ratio of nutrients in the nurture and other nutritional recommendations. In the thesis there is also investigated if healthy population has some overview of the nutritional recommendations and if they follow them. The first theoretical section of the thesis describes dietetic system, particular hospital diets, nutritional recommendations and also healthy population is mentioned here. At the hospital diets I fastened on diets number 3 and 9, which are racional diet and diabetic diet. Those were selected for the practical part of this thesis. The analysis took place in two hospitals and other part among regular people. The goal of the thesis was to map a situation of the dietetic system in hospitals and to find out if the system follows nutritional recommendations. More concretely, it included diet number 3 and 9. Testing set contained weekly racional and diabetic diets which were calculated in a program called "Nutriservisprofesional" and the results of the investigation were processed in Microsoft Excel. Second part of the testing used questionnaires which have been given to 50 respondents and it contained 25 questions, 4 of them being open. It was supposed to find out eating habits and approach to the eating of regular people. The results were processed to graphs in Microsoft Excel. From the results eventuated difference between both of the hospitals, particularly by fiber, vitamin C and fat content. It is related to having fruit and vegetable in the diet, where hospitals did not match as well. One result found out high amounts of fats and lower amount of fiber than the recommended amount. Results of investigating regular people showed lower amount of vegetable and milk products than recommended. The most notable was very low amount of fish and pulses. On the other hand it was confirmed that most of the people drink enough and eat enough food.
Diet of patients with ulcerative colitis
KOŘÍNKOVÁ, Lucie
This bachelor thesis deals with ulcerative colitis as well as with the impact of such a disease on patient's diet. The aim of this thesis is to describe the composition of the diet of patients with ulcerative colitis. The following research questions are defined: "How do the patients follow the principles of a proper diet in this disease?", "What foods do the patients tend to avoid most often?" and "What is the experience of selected patients with a nutritional therapist?" At first, this bachelor thesis summarizes theoretical knowledge of the current status, incidence, diagnostics, causes and the course of the disease. Other chapters deal with symptoms of ulcerative colitis which is not just a matter of the digestive tract. This is followed by the extraintestinal complications that are related to the disease. The nutritional status of patients is also mentioned here. Last but not least, this work describes the diet plan of patients. To achieve the goal of this thesis, quantitative and qualitative researches are selected. The quantitative research is conducted using questionnaires which were distributed to patients of the Clinical Centre ISCARE I.V.F a.s., that is under the leadership of a head of the department, Prof. MUDr. Milan Lukáš, CSc. The survey results are presented in the form of graphs. The qualitative research is carried out through the recording sheet to which the selected respondents wrote down their two-week diet. This diet was subsequently evaluated in the program Nutriservis. The results were compared with the recommendations and interpreted in the form of tables and plain text. For comparison, a general sample menu for the period of remission has been worked out. The research results show that eating habits of patients are quite stereotypical. Generally known facts have been confirmed. Most frequently, patients try to avoid the consumption of dairy products, wholemeal bread and legumes. The consumption of vegetables, fruits and fish is not sufficient. Patients are not aware enough of the role of a nutritional therapist, most respondents do not have any personal experience with him. Dietary advice is searched on the internet where some unverified recommendations may endanger health of individuals of malnutrition, hypovitaminoses or deficiency of trace elements. However, patients in the remission stage of ulcerative colitis should follow the rational diet with regard to individual food intolerance.
