The Crime in the Czech Novel in the 90th of the 19th Century.

The aim of the Diploma thesis is to examine diverse modes of fictional depiction of crime. The thesis demonstrates the basic genre differentiation of this specific theme using the suggested corpus of selected canonical literary works. This diachronic overview is accompanied by the synchronic research which focuses on the occurrence of crime in the context of Czech literary production of the 1890s. In the second part of the thesis, the particular features of crime-based literature are presented on the example of Czech novel which was published during this selected period - Kalibův zločin by Karel Václav Rais. In this section, both period and recent critical reception of Kalibův zločin is discussed and its publication frequency presented. The subsequent part of the thesis deals with comparative analysis of Kalibův zločin and Crime and Punishment by Fjodor Michajlovič Dostojevskij which is based on selected narratology reference books. Based on this narrative comparison, the thesis exposes structural and narrative diversity concerning literary portrayal of crime.
Transformations of poetics in Václav Řezáč's novels

The main objective of this diploma thesis is description of poetics in Václav Řezáč's (1951-1956) novels. It 's especially interested in transformations of poetics between three periods of Řezáč's literary production. Vaclav Řezáč's novels influenced by literary tradition and time period he lived in. That's why we have analyze also novels by other writers. It is believed that Řezáč's evolution was rather cyclical; his novel Nástup in a way refers to some techniques of his previous work Slepá ulička, although with quite different ideological message.

This bachelor thesis is primarily devoted to the analysis and comparison of the psycho-logical novel by Václav Řezáč and the novel by Stephen King Nezbytné věci. The thesis states briefly information about the authors and their work. As follows, it concerns with the analysis of the novel Svědek and Nezbytné věci. However, important part of this paper is the comparison of the two novels on the basis of the genre classification.
Psychological novel as compared with novel of Socialistic Realism in the literary work of Václav Řezáč

This thesis is focused on Václav Řezáč's novel interpretation. To be more specific, it deals with the formation of the psychological novels (Černé světlo, Svědek, Rozhraní) and novels called as constructive novels (unfinished trilogy Nástup and Bitva). Although all of these works were created gradually over fifteen years, a contemporary situation was developing in the meantime as well. That's why we can find ourselves in two different state systems and in two different period atmospheres which significantly influenced the former art. The essential default method is a new historicism which is enriched by hermeneutic approaches.
