Oracle database systems administration

Master's thesis with the name Oracle database systems administration describes problems in databases and how to solve them, which is important for database administrators. It helps them in delivering faster solutions without the need to look for or figure out solutions on their own. Thesis describes database backup and recovery methods that are closely related to problems solutions. The main goal is to provide guidance and recommendations regarding database troubles and how to solve them. It is shown, how to interconnect these methods with database backup and recovery. Targets were reached by backup methods analysis, real word problems simulations and resolutions were shown as well. The main contributions are practical examples of real word issues, which can be faced by database administrator, including different ways how to solve them. Thesis contains materials and based on them an administrator can decide for the best suited backup and recovery configuration and strategy in a company. Another important contribution was a creation of knowledge objects on mbi.vse.cz. Thesis is separated into three logical units. First six chapters delimit thesis borders, contain bibliography research and introduce into Oracle database issues, including methods for database backup and recovery. Second practical part aims at backup and recovery analysis and includes database troubles simulation and their resolutions. The last part is dedicated to knowledge objects on mbi.vse.cz.
