The health risks in working area of glass producing
VIKTOROVÁ, Jaroslava
The subject of the thesis is a company Stölzle Union Ltd., which is engaged in production of brown glass packaging for the pharmaceutical and food industry. The company was reconstructed and modernized after burning down in 2009. There are many risk factors in the industry, specifically thermal load, load noise, chemicals, dust and other. The risk factors of work environment can have a negative impact on health. For that reason, an employer has an obligation to respect law regulation and measures to protect health, resulting from generally applicable law. The theoretical part is focused on clarifying issues from health risk assessment, work categorization, preventive measures and risk factors to occupational diseases. The aim of the thesis was a determination and comparison of work environment factors before and after glassworks reconstruction, including assessment of proposals for measures to protect the workers' health in the glassworks work environment. To achieve the objectives of this work, I used these research questions: Which factors are present in the work environment in a glass production?, Are factors correctly classified?, Have there been changes in a risk assessment before and after the glassworks reconstruction?, What are the measures to protect the workers' health and are they currently being implemented?, I answered these questions in the end. The work environment factors were evaluated qualitatively. Secondary data analysis was used to achieve the objectives of the thesis, which draws from the study protocols from measurements of risk factors, study of literature, internal company documents, laws and decrees. The aim has been achieved. The factors before and after reconstruction of workplaces are summarized and compared in the practical part in clear tables. The measures to protect the workers' health are also included in the practical part, including proposals for improvement. It was found that factors occurring in the glassworks before and after burning down are typical for the glass industry. There have not been any significant changes in the incidence and risk assessment in the workplace after the glassworks reconstruction. Extensive modernization of the glassworks after burning down meant to expand production, but it was not found that risk factors of the work environment have been increased.
Health risk assessment of selected workplace factors in furniture manufacturing in various firms
SEDLÁČKOVÁ, Lucie
We encounter many risk factors in furniture production work environment. Presumed factors in my thesis were noise, dust, vibration, workload and working position. Any work might have impact on persons' health. That impact might be both positive and negative. That's why we have to deal with a protection of workers' health preventively. An integral part of this protection is hygienic supervision, for which employers must classify work processes into categories. In the theoretical part I focus on specification and detailed explanation of all of the concepts and topics connected to my thesis. I also focus on an assessment of health risks and diseases associated with them. One of the possible applications of my thesis is the use in practice. It should assist the employers evaluate their workings and I would like to familiarize them to all of the production risks. The goals of my work are to specify wood processing risks and evaluate proposals on measures to protect workers' health and assess their feasibility in practice. I tried to achieve my goals through research questions, which are: Which risk factors occur in furniture production work environment? Are those factors categorized correctly? Are protecting measures for employees´ health implemented? The thesis was realized as a quality research, especially due to only local conduction of the research and missing statistical data representativeness. The need of openness to the new research findings is a huge advantage. The thesis was developed with the help of the secondary data analysis, using a professional literature, laws, notices and protocols and apparent observation. The objectives of the thesis were fulfilled, risks of the furniture production work environment in selected firms were defined and protecting measures for workers' health were evaluated. It was determined that expected work environment factors are really occurring but with lesser frequency. In addition, two new factors appeared, namely, chemical substances and visual strain. It was also found out, that measures to protect workers' health were well-processed and realizable.
