Occupational diseases in medical personnel and their most common causes
HONDLÍKOVÁ, Zuzana
The objective of my thesis "Occupational diseases in medical personnel and their most common causes" explores the detriments of health that result from theoretical risk in the medical working environment. These health detriments not only severely impact personal health but also cause economical troubles due to diminished work capabilities. Occupational health services have improved as a consequence of this impact. Instead of this term, the expression "work healthcare" is now more commonly used. Its main goal is improvement of labour conditions as well as support of employees health. The occurrence of occupational diseases reflects the level of healthcare services available for employees. The National Institute of Public Health in Prague, in conjunction with The Institute of Health Information and Statistics of the Czech Republic, aim to operate within this framework to address the issue of work healthcare. The objective of the thesis is to examine the occurrence of occupational diseases in the Czech Republic as well as in the South Bohemia region within a specific time period. Expressed in focused literature, there are two hypotheses related to occupational healthcare: H1 "The occurrence of occupational diseases has a declining trend" and H2 "The most common occupational disease in health care in the South Bohemia region is scabies for the years 2002, 2012 and 2013". A secondary analysis of data shows the occurrence of occupational diseases, which reflects the employees' level of healthcare. The National register of occupational diseases is available on the official web site of The National Institute of Public Health in Prague, where single year data is available for further examination. Further data is provided by The Centre of occupational Health at The National Institute of Public Health in Prague. A point of discussion is "monitoring knowledgeability of employees in public healthcare regarding prevention against occupational diseases". Another issue is "the instruction of the medical workforce about prevention against occupational diseases". The focus group is the medical workforce of The Hospital of Czech Budweis, a.s. and The Hospital of T. Bati, a.s. in Zlín. The featured questionnaire research had twenty questions, with twelve focused on knowledge of prevention that minimised contraction of associated diseases. The research has discovered that the occupational diseases in the health and social care field has a declining trend. The largest percentage of the population that has had scabies occurred in 2002. 139 cases were reported which was 53% of all occupational diseases that year. Scabies occurred in 72 cases in the year 2012, which was 55% of all occupational diseases in that year. In South Moravia, there were 44 cases of occupational diseases in 2002, but only 6 in the year 2012. The statistics of 2012 imply a significant decline. In 2002, the region of Ústí and Labem had the greatest number of occupational diseases cases 42 cases. But no case of occupational disease was found in 2002 in the region of Olomouc and in 2012 in the region of Zlín. This statistical data proves the hypothesis of a declining trend. The most significant occurrence of occupational diseases was found in the nurse population of the South Bohemia region. The most common occupational disease was scabies. Nine cases were recorded which accounted for 30% of all occupational diseases in 2002, 2012 and 2013 in the South Bohemia region. The most occupational diseases were found in 2002 17 cases. 2012 showed a decline of only 3 cases. In 2013, the occurrence of occupational diseases increased to 10 cases compared to 2012. The hypothesis was statistically confirmed. The thesis could be used as a informative document for teaching occupational hygiene and also as document of reference for healthcare personnel to study common workplace diseases. This thesis can assist in prevention of occupational diseases, in particular infectious diseases.
The Level of Awareness of Employees in the Selected Construction Companies about Inclusion in the Category of Work and Medical Facility that Provides them with Preventive Care
JÍNOVÁ, Jana
The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part of the paper summarizes findings of construction industry, works classification, selected risk factors of working conditions, health protection measures and the legislation in this field. This section is processed by the secondary analysis of data taken from literature, legislation and websites. In the practical part of the study, quantitative research was used, the interview method was selected and the data collection technique was that of a questionnaire. 270 questionnaires were distributed, 215 of them were returned back, the return rate was 75%. The questionnaire contained 16 questions. They were submitted in a preprinted form to be filled in writing by employees of selected medium-sized construction companies. The questions were aimed at identifying the respondents, at finding their views and knowledge. The aim of this study was to create a list of professions that are used in construction industry, on the example of selected construction companies, to characterize the actual or potential exposure to risk factors regarding individual professions, and to determine how much the company employees are informed of the way preventive care measures are provided. Two hypotheses were set. Hypothesis 1, workers are informed in which work category they are classified, has not been confirmed. The research results have shown that a great number of employees do not remember that they were informed of the category into which their work had been classified. Hypothesis 2, workers are informed of the preventive care measures provision, has been confirmed. The employees proved that they had been sufficiently informed about the medical facility providing them with preventive care. The research results will be forwarded to employers who, based on these findings, may take measures to increase their employees' knowledge in the field.
Health Promotion in the Workplace in Concrete Conditions of a Textile Producing Company
PRŮCHOVÁ, Pavla
I prepared my thesis on Health Support at Workplaces under Particular Conditions of a Textile Factory. The main objective was to determine the company management?s activities in the field of health support. The second objective was to map the information provided to the staff on health support at the workplace, and the third objective was to propose the concept of a specific preventive programme. When preparing the concept of the preventive programme for the textile company I co-operated with the company management and with the company doctor. The reference group was represented by women employed in a textile plant in South Bohemia who worked in different workshops producing car seat covers, housing and children?s clothing. The work described in this thesis was carried out as quantitative research. For data collection I used anonymous questionnaires and the results of this research were plotted on graphs. The thesis is divided into a theoretical part and an empirical part. The theoretical part mainly deals with health support at the workplace, with an analysis of health risks at work including the impact of physical factors. At the beginning of the empirical part I set the goals and set out three hypotheses. Having analysed the collected data I found that H1, H2 and H3 were confirmed. The empirical section includes a description of the research technique which shows that more than 50 per cent of employees of the textile factory are overweight, then that there is a greater occurrence of health problems in the departments of sewing and embroidery machines and many women also had no idea of the meaning of health support at the workplace. According to the results it is possible to say that the textile company does not organize any physical activities or rehabilitative exercises for their employees. Based on the information I would recommend organizing sports courses, providing healthy canteen meals, reducing stress at the workplace and introducing dust extractors in order to reduce dust at the workplace. This thesis may bring the company better working comfort and help to improve the employees? health. The proposed preventive programme can also be a manual for employers in the textile plant in the field of health support at the workplace.
Problems of Occupational Dermatoses
BĚHOUNKOVÁ, Markéta
For my bachelor thesis, I have decided to deal with the theme {\clqq}Problems of Occupational Dermatoses``. I find the issue interesting but a little bit demanding on the processing and including all the necessary details. The aim of my work is to map occu-rence of occupational dermatosis in {\clqq}the centre of occupational deseases`` of Occupatio-nal Therapy Ward in České Budějovice Hospital and to accept and practically realize precautionary measures to decrease or avoid occurance of new occupational dermatosis cases. The hypotheses were concerned with comparing statistics of occupational derma-tosis cases reported in {\clqq}the centre of occupational deseases`` in České Budějovice and its congruity with developments of nation-wide statistics, and also precaution of occupati-onal dermatosis in a chosen copany. To research the first file, I have used a secondary data analysis and National health registry of occupational deseases statistics; for the second file, the method of quantitative reasearch was used and finally I used questio-naire for the data acquisition technique. The research was divided into two parts: the first file was comprised of occupational dermatosis data acquired in National health registry of occupational deseases, the second file was formed by employees of a com-pany producing spare parts for automobile industry. The results of the research were processed into charts and diagrams. The chosen aims were fulfilled, the process of acquiring datas was also not problematic, but there were some problems with gathering information from addressed respondents. The hypotheses were not confirmed {--} occu-pational dermatosis statistics of {\clqq}the centre of occupational deseases`` in České Budějo-vice differ from nation-wide statistics and so the precaution of occupational dermatosis is insufficient.
Working Conditions of Teenagers
BRABENCOVÁ, Věra
So as to elaborate my bachelor thesis I chose the theme of "Working Conditions of Teenagers". This problem seems to me interesting and very up-to-date. The target I chose for my work was to gather information on working conditions of teenagers in selected secondary professional schools and secondary vocational schools by means of the questionnaire survey and its evaluation. As for the survey I chose the method of the quantitative survey, as for the data collection technique I used the questionnaire. The targets chosen were fulfilled in accordance with my ideas; the questionnaire survey was realized without any substantial difficulties. Hypotheses concerned the awareness of the staff on the legislative limitation while employing teenagers, sufficiency of the work-health care provided to teenagers and satisfaction of teenagers with working conditions in professional practical trainings. All the three hypotheses were validated. The second and the third hypotheses, however, were not filled as unambiguously as the first one, therefore let me suggest precautions to improve working conditions of teenagers {--} more consistent observance of the obligation to undergo not only the entry medical examination but even the regular preventive medical examinations and the monitoring whether this obligation has been fulfilled; mutual efforts to maintain the unconflictful and collegiate relations between the apprentices and their foremen, using the most quality instruments and tools and, last but not the least, also the higher assessment of the work.
