Anomalous occurences of arsenic in natural waters in the Czech Republic
Rodovská, Zuzana ; Drahota, Petr (advisor) ; Redlich, Aleš (referee)
This bachelor thesis reviews the data on the distribution of arsenic in surface and underground natural waters of the Czech Republic. In addition the thesis focuses on the occurrence of anomalous arsenic concentrations and tries to detect sources of arsenic contamination. Results of the thesis suggest high quality of the surface and groundwater in the Czech Republic with respect to arsenic. Its anomalous concentrations in the natural waters in Czech Republic have been rarely documented only in areas with strong anthropogenic impact and in areas affected by historical mining operations. Keywords: Arsenic, toxicity, contamination, surface water, groundwater, Czech Republic
Vliv akvakulturních recirkulačních systému na kvalitu povrchových vod
Mrkvica, Aleš
This diploma thesis deals with recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) in terms of their effects on quality of surface water. In the theoretical part, recirculating aquaculture systems, physicochemical parameters of water, eutrophication and fish species that were part of the experiment were described. The methodological part was focused on the detailed description of sampling, parts of the recirculating system, used feed, the origin of reared fish and methods for determination of the individual physicochemical parameters of water and sediment. Samples of water and sediment were collected and analyzed at the Department of Fisheries and Hydrobiology at Mendel University in Brno. In the practical part, the physicochemical parameters were evaluated depending on the number of fish in the system, the daily ration and the type of feed used. It was found that the ammoniacal nitrogen content of the recirculating systems is mainly dependent on the number of fish, the nitrite nitrogen content per daily feed rate, the higher the nitrate content coincides with the minimum water change and the nitrification, the amount of extractable phosphorus in the sediment depends on the type of feed used as well as the total nitrogen content. The smallest impact of phosphorus and nitrogen emissions was demonstrated in the BIOMAR Efico Enviro 920 Advance 4.5 mm feed, which also contained the highest organic content.
Zhodnocení stavu Knínického potoka z hlediska znečištění dusičnany
Caesar, Jindřich
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to monitor the stream Knínický potok in terms of water quality and nitrogen pollution. The theoretical part contains the basic facts about water and its importance to humans. Further it describes the composition and properties of water, types of water and especially water quality and pollution. There are also defined factors having the most significant impact on water quality along with the relevant le-gislation. The practical part consists of site survey and the monitoring itself, which was carried out monthly from april 2015 to march 2017. The monitoring was based on fieldwork requiring water sampling and measurement of selected parameters such as pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen and temperature; the other parameters, nitrate and total nitrogen, were determined in the UAKE MENDELU laboratory. In the discussion part the resulsts are compared to ČSN 75 7221 and to the government regulation 401/2015 Sb., in an effective version. As a result of the work, main sources of nitrogen pollution in the stream are determined.
Kvantitativní srovnání publikací v oblasti znečištění prostředí mikroplasty a výdajů na výzkum a vývoj ve vybraných zemích EU
Volhejnová, Klaudie
Microplastic environmental pollution is a serious global problem that has recently been highlighted by research teams in economically advanced countries. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to compare data on published publications in the field of environmental pollution of microplastics and expenditures on research and development in the European Union for the period 2009–2019. The aim is to compare whether the level of expenditure can be reflected in the number of publications in this area and to evaluate whether this data can be used to assess the cost-effectiveness. Literary research concerns the issue of environmental contamination by plastics, their production, recycling and decomposition. Attention is also paid to microplastics in connection with contamination of the aquatic environment and the threat of living organisms due to the ingestion of these particles. The last part of the literature research deals with spending on research and development in the EU. The Web of Science Core Collection was used to elaborate the topic, analyzing publications on environmental pollution of microplastics from the point of view of the country's workplaces. Data from the European Union Statistical Office (Eurostat), expressed as a percentage of the country's GDP, were used to determine R&D expenditure. A total of 716 scientific publications were analyzed. The highest number of publications came from the United Kingdom, followed by Germany and Italy. After recalculation, the number of inhabitants was Slovenia, followed by Portugal and Denmark. The Czech Republic belongs to a group of countries that have higher spending on science and development, but a lower number of publications. The findings are in line with the Science, Research and Innovation Performance Report of the EU published by the European Commission in January 2018. The number of environmental publications about microplastics pollution has proven to be a useful indicator of the cost-effectiveness of science and development.
Vliv chemických zdrojů znečištění na jakost povrchových vod v povodí Horní Vltavy
NEKOLNÝ, Tomáš
The diploma thesis is focused on the issue of surface water pollution, which is one of the biggest problems of the contemporary world. The pollution of watercourses and reservoirs worsens the quality of aquatic ecosystems as well as ecosystems in their surroundings. The typical sources of surface water pollution include especially point sources (human settlements, industrial sites) and land resources (agriculture). While the point sources of pollution can be monitored, the situation is far more complicated for the field sources. In agricultural farming, the fertilizer residues, pesticides and other substances come into the groundwater and the surface water. The aim of this work is to find out the quality of surface water in the measuring profiles (river Malše), to find out the hydrological situation during the year and to evaluate the impact of chemical pollution sources influencing the quality of the surface water in the river basin.
Přítomnost singletového kyslíku v povrchových vodách
KOVAŘÍKOVÁ, Michaela
This master thesis deals with the methods of measurement of singlet oxygen steady state concentrations in surface water and the factors affecting this concentration. The first part of this work shows theoretical background and an introduction to photochemistry of surface water with respect to the reactive oxygen species. The second part describes the methodology of conducted experiments and discuss its results with respect to current literature.
Sledování kvality vody vybraného vodního toku
Forgačová, Kristýna
The bachelor thesis is dedicated to water quality monitoring in the river Olešná. The goal of this thesis is to monitor the water quality in the river during a year at four locations along the whole river stream. The thesis is mainly focused on the analysis of basic water quality parameters from collected samples by using a spectrophotometer in a laboratory. Chosen parameters are nitrates, sulphates and total phosphorus. In the field there were measured the temperature of the water, pH, conductivity and the amount of dissolved oxygen in the river. The literature overview is related to the topic of surface water, water quality and water pollution. A part of the thesis describes the characteristics of river Olešná and its surroundings. The results of monitoring are assessed according to CSN 75 7221 Classification of surface water quality and also compared with the values of permissible pollution of surface water from Government Regulation No. 401/2015 Coll.
