Education of first-time mothers about breastfeeding

v angličtině The bachelor's thesis is devoted to the issue of breastfeeding. Specifically, it focuses on the education of first-time mothers about breastfeeding, which plays an irreplaceable role in the subsequent course of breastfeeding and the quality of nutrition of the breastfed child. The work is conceived as theoretical - practical. The aim of the theoretical part is to introduce the issue of breastfeeding. It introduces the anatomy of the female breast, the physiology of lactation and the composition of breast milk. It also describes the importance and benefits of breastfeeding, the correct breastfeeding technique and mentions common complications associated with breastfeeding and their solutions. Last but not least, it describes the role of the midwife in caring for a breastfeeding woman, the importance and forms of educating women about breastfeeding and points to the breastfeeding support system in the world. In the practical part, the aim is to map the interest of first-time mothers in lactation counseling services and to find out their satisfaction with the services provided. Effect of socioeconomic status on breastfeeding duration

This Bachelor thesis is focused on the breastfeeding and its issues. This thesis includes theoretical and practical part. The aim of the theoretical part is to widen the educaion of the public and the valid information about breastfeeding. This part consists of the anatomy of breast and physiology of lactation, emphasizes the value of breastfeeding for mother, baby and the whole society and also the Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030 is mentioned. It also recommends the ideal nourishment of breastfeeding women, describes the rules and correct techniques of breastfeeding, specifies the ideal growth and progress of the baby. It decribes the main complications during breastfeeding and offers their solution. It offers also the alternatives of nourishment and rules for its uses. It shows the support of breastfeeding and sums up the results of foreign studies about socioeconomical status and its influence on the length of breastfeeding. Breastfeeding support in the Czech health care system

Abstact The diploma thesis is focused on forms and dimensions of breast-feeding support regarding different levels of women and child care in the health care system of the Czech Republic from the perspective of a woman, a mother, who is the health care recipient in the context of the legal framework of Czech legislation and relevant international documents. The findings are based on empirical research results gained from ten semi-structured in-depth interviews. Ten individual research participants gave birth in the same medical institution with the title Baby Friendly Hospital during the last three years, which is the unifying element of the participants. The perspective of a woman, based on a thematic analysis of interviews , shows a lot of perceived dimensions of the provided health care. This work identifies the most obvious women themes: their perception of breastfeeding in pregnancy, importance of breastfeeding for woman, the mother's contact with the baby after the childbirth, medical staff attitude and quality of provided care, aspects of pediatric care and support of breast-feeding out of the health care system. THE ROLES OF MIDWIFE IN ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE BREASTFEEDING

Breast-feeding is one of the first most important emotional moments for the mother and for the child. According to existing researches breast-feeding brings the child protection from allergy, it improves the immune system, supports the healthful growth of the bones and provides nutritional energetical value. Breast-feeding is an essential way of nourishment, which the mother can offer the child and it is finantially undemanding. It is important for pregnant women to be prepared to breast-feeding, they can attend some prenatal courses or they can come to a prenatal advisory centre. If a woman wants to breast-feed her child, she should know the principles of right breast-feeding, the technique and the breast-feeding positions. The role of a midwife is to educate a woman during the pregnancy and after the birth of the child. The thesis includes anatomy of the breast, the characteristic, advantages and methods of breast-feeding, the composition the breast milk, the definition of the term ?midwife? and activities to support breast-feeding. The thesis deals with awarness of the pregnant women about breast-feeding. It finds out about how pregnant women are informed about breast-feeding. It also finds out what activities midwives do. The research has been done through questionnaires by the quantitive method. The research group was formed of fifty puerperas from the hospital in České Budějovice and from the hospital in Pelhřimov. The other research group was formed of fifty midwives from the primal care of the towns of Jindřichův Hradec, České Budějovice and Pelhřimov. It is possible to use the resuls of the thesis as an information material for midwives working in primal care. The results can help through informed midwives to improve the awareness of pregnant women and can be used in prenatal courses to educate women about breast-feeding.
