The main objective of the bachelor thesis is to write a research study and summarize existing knowledge in the field of air bearings. These bearings are being used more often recently, especially in high speed machines, because conventional bearings are not suitable for these machines.

Turbocharger Rotors Using Gas Bearings

This bachelor's thesis is a research project focused on turbocharger rotors using gas bearings. The work is devided into seven chapters. The first chapter is brief summary of history of development of turbochargers for combustion engines. Basic working principles of turbocharger are descriped in second chapter. Third chapter is about the construction of individual parts, as well as about the turbocharger as a whole. The fourth part is devoted to the design, technical solutions and applications of aerodynamic bearings. The fifth and sixth chapter explains some of computational and experimental method. The final chapter lists required structural modifications of existing turbochargers.
