Possibilities of physiotherapy for handball players with chronic musculoskeletal problems
TOMÁŠKOVÁ, Denisa
Handball is a contact sport associated with a high frequency of injuries. The unilateral nature of the movement leads to pathokinesiological changes in the musculoskeletal system. These may secondarily affect the quality of movement and lead to recurrent musculoskeletal difficulties. The bachelor thesis deals with chronic difficulties arising from handball. It proposes physiotherapy options that allow to positively influence, prevent or completely eliminate these changes. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to determine the nature of musculoskeletal difficulties in selected female handball players of TJ Lokomotiva České Budějovice and to develop a proposal for individual physiotherapy for selected female handball players. Based on the objectives, the research questions "What kind of musculoskeletal difficulties are found in female handball players?" and "Did the individually designed physiotherapy plan help the identified subjective and objective musculoskeletal difficulties in female handball players? " The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. In the theoretical part, brief information about handball and female players, kinesiology of handball movements, movement difficulties acute and chronic within the sport, movement management together with tissue healing, examination and therapeutic methods and prevention are described. In the practical part, a qualitative research is developed on the basis of three case studies of selected players of TJ Lokomotiva České Budějovice playing the second women's league. The research group consisted of female handball players aged from 20 to 22 years who have been regularly training and playing handball for more than 8 years. The female players attended AB clinics once a week with written consent from the responsible staff member. The research request document is available for review from the author of the study. The practical part includes an initial kinesiological examination, a description of the 8-week therapy, and an outcome kinesiological analysis. The handball players were educated on the exercise plan they performed during therapy sessions and subsequently outside the clinic. I see the contribution of this work in the clinical practice of physiotherapists, to whom it can serve as an inspiration for working with handball players. Furthermore, the bachelor thesis can serve as educational material for sports coaches or for a selected group of people playing handball.
