Oil Boom in Baku - The Beginning of Oil Extraction in the Caspian Region

This bachelor's thesis is focusing on the beginnings of the oil industry in today's Azerbaijan, which are found in the 19th century. The thesis itself is trying to tell the story of almost forgotten era in the history of Azeri capital Baku and main protagonists connected with so called "Oil boom" of Baku. This oil rush contributed to Russia's position as a number one producer of crude oil before the World War I. The thesis is focusing on number of technological developments as well. The first chapter tells the story of the oil industry in the years before the privatization. The subsequent chapters are dealing with companies of Nobel brothers, the Rothschild family and with Oil barons of Baku. The last chapter is focusing on the socio-political upheaval, which caused the end of the "Oil boom". The thesis itself is trying to demonstrate the positive contributions of this era for the world's oil industry and the city of Baku as well.
Petroleum industry of South Sudan as a factor influencing current events in South Sudan and relations between Sudan and South Sudan

Petroleum is one of the most important commodities traded on the international markets. World oil reserves are limited and therefore becoming increasingly important. Sudan and South Sudan control the sixth highest African oil reserves. However, both states have to face a number of problems which the petroleum industry brings. The bachelor project primarily focuses on South Sudan and its petroleum industry. The aim of the project is to describe how the petroleum industry of South Sudan influences the current events in South Sudan and the relations between Sudan and South Sudan.
The issue of regulation of transnational corporations

The bachelor thesis deals with the regulation of transnational corporations. The aim is to assess the challenges of multinational companies, their regulation and possible interactions with national states. The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on general characteristics of multinational companies and one of the ways of their regulation, corporate social responsibility (CSR). In the practical part of the thesis is described on a concrete example of the activity of the oil company Royal Dutch Shell in Nigeria of how transnational corporations influence national states. If they strengthen the state and bring him benefits, or are the instigator of destabilizing the economy and other issues.
