This bachelor thesis consists of a translation of selected chapters from the book Die Krankheitsermittler written by the German doctor Jürgen Schäfer and an annotation. The book deals mainly with orphan diseases and uses examples from a medical practice. The aim of this thesis is to produce a functional translation together with an annotation with translation solutions. The annotation contains a translation analysis according to Christiane Nord, the method and the aim of the translation and a typology of translation problems and shifts.
